Wilbur
--
I think I've lost my mind.
You may think I'm crazy for getting so worked up when my friends didn't come home, but I got overly attached to them easily. When Techno didn't come home for a whole day, I figured he'd be back the next, of course. But, as I pulled myself out of my tent, that didn't seem to be the case.
Tommy had told me when I woke up the day before that Techno had gone for a walk. He must've been walking for an awfully long time.
Upon my examination, Tommy was peacefully sitting over my the edge of the woods, playing with a bug of some sort. I heard him giggle as it ran up his arm, threatening to scurry up under his red sleeve. Surprisimgly, It seemed as if he was elated, and I wondered what was up with him- It wasn't every day you saw that boy happy to be around nature.
"Hey Tommy," I called to him, using the pep in my voice to mask the growing panic deep inside of me.
"Hey Will- Come look at this ladybug!" Tommy replied cheerfully, holding up his arm to show me the red-and-black spotted insect.
I walked over to the kneeling boy, crouching down beside him to look at the insects and flowers he had gathered. "Since when do you like plants and bugs?" I asked, clearly curious at his sudden change in heart.
His eyes went big, as if he was nervous, so he clenched them shut and quickly shook his head to rid the feelings. "I guess they're just. . . Interesting-" He said upon reopening his eyes.
I decided not to pressure Tommy anymore about it, seeing as he obviously didn't want to discuss it any further. Sitting on the ground with him took my mind off of everything that had troubled me then, as it reminded me of old times. Times when I would sit like this in the safety of our walled nation- up until we were sent away, of course. Thrown away from the nation we nurtured and cared for out of cold blood, by a ruler infamous for destruction.
Birds sang songs of hope in the trees, beckoning for others to join in. I never noticed how serene it was in the woods up until now, basking in the warm sun with the first person I'd ever trusted by my side- Hell, the first person I'd ever trusted with my life. The hours seemed to melt by as I gradually grew tired, and as I stood I remembered the man who still hadn't returned to us.
Techno- Where are you?
The world opened beneath my feet and I fell in, spiraling into its dark depths as I cried out for familiar faces and reunion.

"Wilbur!"
I groggily opened my eyes to the sound of Tommy's panic-stricken voice calling me back to life. I must've passed out when I stood up because there was a raging pain in my head and I wasn't too far from the place I was before I collapsed.
"Thank God you're ok-" A voice said from behind me- Or was it above me? I knew that voice anywhere.
"Techno?" I cried, trying to sit up despite his warnings to stay down and rest. "Are you ok? Where were you? I was so worried I-" A strong finger was pressed against my mouth as he hushed me, clearly already tired of the rambling. There was the scent of iron in the air, and it didn't hit me until I smelt it- Techno was covered in blood.
My eyes grew visibly wider as I grabbed the shoulders of the man in front of me and looked him up and down, still recovering from the shock and the massive headache I had upon waking.
Techno looked at my wild expression, and then back at himself. "Oh- You must be confused. . ." He must've seen the concern that coated my eyes and face, as he quickly added, "Don't worry, it's not mine."
