You took a sip of the now cold drink that sat in front of you. You had decided to take your mind off things since it was just becoming a bit too overwhelming for you. Your two friends, Anaika and Hyunjin had invited you out for some coffee and you couldn't refuse.

You didn't know why but Jaehyun's absence wasn't what really bothered you, but the fact that that absence was now permanent. Your mind couldn't help but wander to the memories you both had made together.

Your warm hands made their way to your cheeks, your head leaning onto your palm as it rested facing the window. There was rather hot weather outside, quite nice for a small walk in the park or maybe resting under the shadow of a tree, but it didn't matter how crowded the small cafe you were in was, or how hot the weather felt, your heart still felt empty, cold, waiting for someone who might never come back.

And that was real life. Cruel. You already knew people come and go, but you never thought it'd be the one who promised to be there when no one else was. You were maybe thinking a little too much than what was considered healthy, but at this point, you didn't care. Maybe you felt too numb, or maybe your mind was still trying to process that he was not there anymore. Anyhow, you knew you longed for him.

You were too lost in your own thoughts that you didn't realize the sigh that just rolled off your lips. It wasn't long until Hyunjin caught the slight discomfort and gloom in your attitude. He placed his cup down, a little louder than normal but not too distracting, however, it was enough for you to get out of your small trance.

"Are you alright?" He asked as you nodded.

"Yes, I am, why?" You lied as he just shook his head at you.

"You know you can always tell us anything, right? I know you're not okay, please tell me what's bothering you?" Hyunjin insisted again but you denied.

"It's about Jaehyun, right?" Anaika intervened as you slowly nodded.

"What happened?" Hyunjin inquired, examining your now blue expression.

"Listen, if he left, he must have known why he was doing it. He doesn't deserve you, that's it. I know someday you'll find someone better, and you have us..." She implied, completely ignoring the boy's question.

"Yeah, I know. But, it's just... weird, you know? It wasn't like we hung out that much ever since he got himself that girlfriend, but now it just hits different when you know it's gonna be like that forever..." You replied.

"It's gonna be alright, Y/N, don't be too harsh on yourself it's only been a while. I know you'll soon get used to it." She comforted, rubbing small circles on your back.

"Thanks, guys, for trying to cheer me up today. I think I should get going, we have to go to class tomorrow anyway..."

You walked out of the cafe and bid your goodbyes, each of you going their own way. You sat down on a nearby park bench, your eyes scanning the small pond that sat in front of you. It was lonesome. There were no fishes swimming in it, it didn't attract people, it was just there... existing.

The once crystal water was now dirty and brown, the beautiful flowers that used to adorn it were now just weeds, but why was it so interesting to you? Because it reflected you. You were lonely, sad, you were just... existing. Your shaky hands made its way to your cheeks, wiping that sole tear that had now fallen. A sigh escaped your lips, everything reminded you of him.

The single drop that fell had now become more. It just didn't seem to stop. Tears fell endlessly, blurring your vision and making you breathless. You managed to compose yourself, wiping your last tears away as you stood up from the bench and left.

Oh, Y/N, how clueless of you, maybe the pain was not just inside your heart, but right in front of your eyes.
