After a few hours of playful bickering, Violet's phone buzzes. She checks it and frowns. It was Aaron.

"I understand if you're scared to come out to him," I start to say.

"Yeah, and there's no way in hell I'm gonna sing about it either. Maybe one day," She says looking at me with an endearing smile.

"Well, what do you want to sing about?" I ask her.

"My... struggles." I looked at her with a confused look. She has everything. What could she even struggle with other than coming out?

"I can't talk to anyone about my personal life, because everyone would try to interfere. I'm the 'Queen Bitch' of the school. So no one really knows what it's like to have everything but to feel like you really have nothing. Hell, my dad's a drunk mafia boss who beats my mother when he's not away from home, and I'm adopted. She's even controlling too. She only cares about our family's public image, so that way my dad won't be realized as more than an innocent monopoly man," she sighs. "Life sucks being 'Little Miss Perfect'." She falls onto her bed.

"My dad's not even around. He only comes around for Diwali and pays for our child support. Then when he does spend time with me, he criticizes me for my every move. Honestly, I could go without his judgment. He wants me to be 'ordinary'," I say with finger quotations while plopping down next to her.

"Diwali?", Violet flashes me with a confused look.

"It's like the Hindu equivalent of Christmas. Instead of just one day, we have five. We also get to have colorful lights and parties. It's to worship the goddess Lakshmi. People go crazy, eat special foods, give gifts, and have a great time," I explained, looking at the real goddess before me.

"That's cool! Didn't know you were Hindu," she says seemingly intrigued.

"Well, I'm not overly religious, but it was a deal that my parents had. Daanav would financially support us, as long as we were raised in the Hindu religion. I still celebrate Christian holidays with my mom. They're still legally married, but they're separated. He even lives in Eastwood, but doesn't normally want anything to do with us," I told her.

"Jeez, what an ass..." Violet says.

"Seems like we both have it rough huh?" I say with a sigh.

This time, my phone buzzes. It's Hestia.

Come quick! It's Mom. And Daanav is here...

My blood went cold. Daanav only came when shit got serious. And lately, that's been happening a lot.

What's going on??

I don't know, but when we got home, she was laying on the floor bleeding out.

I already called 911.

My eyes widened. What could've happened?

I'll be right over.

"I am so sorry, but I gotta go. Something happened to my mom," I explain while getting my stuff together in a rush.

"Holy shit. Do you want me to come with you? I mean, you need a ride after all," she says.

"Thanks," I say after hugging her.

5 minutes later...

We pull up to my place; ambulances and cops everywhere. Apollo and Hestia are sitting on the steps sobbing, and Daanav is talking to the police. I run inside quickly.

"MOM?!?!?!" I yell as I reach her side. Blood is pouring out of her chest. Medics urge me to wait outside.  It all just seems too surreal. Who would want to hurt Mom?
