tens of empty energy
drink cans littered my room.
the caffeine crashes came
right on schedule like winter in texas.
with eyes red and heart tired, i opened
another one.
i'm too scared to go back asleep.
because there, memories of us
will replay in my head,
old feelings for you would
resurface, and the wall i built will break.
and i can't go back to you.
ironically enough, this is something
i always say, but somehow
i find my way back in your arms.
your cold warmth being a shelter
that'll fall at any point.
and when that happens, i'll be the
one trapped underneath the rubbish.
