I woke to the sound of knocking and for a moment forgot where I was. This double bed certainly wasn't mine, neither was the room...oh, Kylo. I sat up just as a figure came from the door at the side of the room, a trail of steam following him from what I assumed was the bathroom. I rubbed my eyes as he opened the door and heard possibly the last voice I'd want to hear first thing in the morning."We've located the Rebel base and will be moving on it within the hour" said General Hux as he took in the sight of an unmasked, mostly undressed, Kylo Ren with distaste.
"Fine, I'll prepare shortly" was all Kylo said in response.
I saw General Hux glance past Kylo and spot me through the open bedroom door as we locked eyes. His face twisted with one part disdain, one part curiosity and one part victory. I broke eye contact as he 'hmph'd and turned to stride away, just realising how this might have looked to him. I threw off the blanket and went to tie up my hair as I prepared to rush back to my quarters before this situation could be misconstrued by anyone else. I was stopped in my tracks however by a shirtless Kylo Ren whose hair was still dripping from the shower he had clearly just finished. I tried not to notice his well toned chest or the scar that ran up the left side of it but that meant that I had to lock eyes with him to distract myself. He was far more fit than I'd imagined he'd look and for some reason that bothered me.
"I should get back to my room and wash up. I want to be ready if we're confronting Rebels" I said and he just stared back calmly as though this wasn't a weird situation we were in.
"I do have a bathroom here if you need to use it" he told me and I quirked an eyebrow.
"Do you not want me to leave?" I asked him expecting him to either chuckle or get mad, either one would be better than this intense calm.
"No" was all he said and I was taken by surprise at his bluntness.
"But all my clothes are back at my room" I reasoned and his eyes flickered towards his dresser.
"I have old clothes that might fit you" he said and I shook my head and chuckled.
"And what if they don't?" I prodded.
"Then wear a towel" he replied with the beginnings of a smirk.
I gaped at him and then playfully punched him in the unwounded shoulder, which was a bad move because he was rock solid and I ended up pushing myself back just slightly with the effort while he just chuckled slightly.
"As if I want to be seen by Hux in nothing but a towel!" I joked and his almost good mood suddenly soured.
"Yeah..." he trailed off.
I stared at him and he broke eye contact with me and glanced at the bathroom door. I suddenly remembered what he had said about frequently delving into his thoughts and I too became serious again. "What was Hux thinking?" I asked him directly.
"The same thing as everyone else" he replied with a sigh.
"He thinks I'm your pet?" I asked, disliking the General even further.
"Well, he also misread the scene he saw earlier and will be reporting his 'findings' to Supreme Leader" he said and my heart jumped into my throat.
What if Snoke decided I wasn't fit for training after this? What if he banned Kylo from having any contact with me after this...what if he kicked me out of the first order?! Kylo must have seen the panic on my face because he laid a hand on top of my head, like one would to a child, and said "don't worry about it, go have a shower. I'll find those clothes" he told me.
Yeah because wearing your clothes won't just confirm Hux's assumptions, I thought sarcastically.
"I heard that" warned Kylo as he turned to rummage through the drawers.
