Encounter with Darkness

Leon shot up, breathing heavily; it felt like he had just experienced a nightmare... but he knew better; he then scanned the room, wherever he was... he didn't know; moving off the couch to a sitting position, he felt groggy... the same thing he felt when Lily got him out of that cube he was trapped in, first thing that caught his attention was files on the table in front of him, opening one up, the words "Pawn Shop Robbery" was the title on the page, a "Solved" stamp on it, and on the top left corner, the logo for the KCPD; closing the file he got up and looked around once again.

"Where the hell am I", Leon asked himself as he walked around the room, a corkboard catching his attention; in the middle were five random people, two had giant red x's over their faces the remaining three were completely untouched; to the left of it was the guy he and Lily had ran into, a giant red x over his photo; looking at the door, the name "Detective Seargent Sebastian Castellanos" was written on the window; leaving the room and passing by a desk, a projector screen turned on, causing Leon to snap his head towards it, walking up to it, he pushed a button, the slide changing to Kyra's family photo.

"Kyra", Leon muttered out, looking at the photo on the board before pushing another button, the slide changing; a police academy in the background as Kyra, and another woman stood next to each other, showing off their badges; clicking to the next slide, his eyes widened as he saw a burning house in the background, she lied unconscious on a gurney, oxygen mask on her face as burns were visible on her, her parents nearby, terrified looks on their faces; next slide, a morgue in the police station, Kyra's father stood in front of a body as Kyra stood a few feet behind it... the day her mother supposedly died; and the last slide showed Kyra sitting in a chair... and it began playing almost like a video.

"Thank you for coming, Miss. Castellanos", a voice said, but she said nothing, keeping her gaze at the floor, looking almost dead, "to begin, we want to know what happened in Krimson City on July 18th",

"...You wouldn't believe me if I told you", Kyra said, her tone holding no emotion.

"I have a feeling we might", the voice said, "we have a few reports, the undead, missing people, a city falling apart",

"...Beacon was supposed to be an in-and-out mission", Kyra stated, "the events that transpired after... no one believes; what you have is the whole story, even my friend will tell you the same thing... there's no point in this interview",

"Then this interview is over, but there's one last thing we'd like to address", the voice said, "we can tell you don't want anything like this happening again, either you or your friend can join our agency, if not, then we'll be sitting here for awhile",

A hidden figure appeared behind Kyra, whispering something to her before vanishing, almost as if she was never there in the first place.

"...I'll join... just leave my friend out of all this", Kyra said.

"Are you sure... it'll be tough, life-threatening", the voice began.

"What choice do I have anyway", Kyra muttered, "Not like I have anything left to stop me",

The projector shut off, leaving Leon there in his thoughts; the room in the video was one he knew all too well, he was in that very same room a few days after the fall of Raccoon City, but what came to his thoughts was one word... Beacon, it had been something Kyra never told anyone about, not even him; his thoughts were interrupted by a clicking noise coming from right behind him, freezing for a second, he quickly rolled out of the way as a gun went off, the bullet landing in the board in front of them; looking at the shooter, it looked to be of Kyra, her veins and eyes were black, her face held anger as she moved the gun towards him one again, hesitation in her movements, he ran into cover as she fired her gun once again, slowly moving towards him.
