Life after the war was peaceful, Aang and Katara finally got together, which made Sokka owe {Y/N} a couple coins. Katara did get mad that them for making a bet like that however, but of course, neither of them listened.

The one thing that wasn't peaceful was the many letters that {Y/N} received from her family back in ba sing sey, wanting them to come home. {Y/N}, of course, Didn't want to leave her new friends, especially the new firelord, Zuko.

Since he joined the GAang, {Y/N} Always found he seemed to like hanging out with them the best, The only time he wasn't being when he took Aang, Sokka and Katara on their life changing field trips.

{Y/N} found their thought mostly of Zuko, and their face always went the colour of the setting sun when toph said how fast their heart rate went up. Today was no different

"{Y/N}, your heart rate went faster then normal, what are you thinking about?" Toph asked, and and {Y/N} sighed, holding the latest letter in their hands

"My family keeps wanting me to come back home, But I don't really want to go," They said and toph smirked

"Is it because of Zuko? You know, his heart rate always spikes up when he sees you," Toph said, and {Y/N} perked up

"He does?" They asked and Toph nodded. {Y/N} felt butterflies form in their stomach, hopeful that what Toph said about Zuko is true, and can give her more of a reason not to go back to the land of the dai lee.

{Y/N} walked to the throne room of the fire palace. Their hopes half high as they opened the door. They first saw Zuko, but as they walked closer, they also saw Mai, Zuko's old girlfriend, and their heart sank.

{Y/N} decided that maybe going back home wasn't a bad idea after all, and they went to their room to pack the little things they had brought. It was only after a knock came from their door did they realize that tears were beginning to form.

They wiped said tears away and opened the door, to see Zuko. He looked into {Y/N}'s room, and saw the bag being packed

"Are you going somewhere?" He asked, worried that {Y/N} was going for good before he could tell them how he felt.

"Y-yeah, I was going to go back to my family," {Y/N} said, picking up the bag and started to leave, but Zuko blocked their path

"Can I talk to you before you go?" He asked, looking into {Y/N}'s eyes, and they sighed

"Yeah, I didn't actually have a set time for when to leave, so talking is good," {Y/N} mentally slapped themselves for saying that, it sounded so dumb

Zuko went to open his mouth, but nothing came to mind, as he realized, He's never actually told someone he loved them, and while standing with {Y/N} his heart was going faster then the air Aang bended. Zuko finally had an idea of what to say when {Y/N} spoke up

"If it's about Mai, Don't worry, I know she likes you, and I'm sure you like her back, so, I won't get in the way," Zuko was shocked by this, {Y/N} didn't actually think that Zuko liked Mai.

While it's true he did, those feeling seemed to have disappeared after The beach day and the party, and when he truly found his feelings for {Y/N}. But Zuko was, once again, at a loss for words

"Remember Zuko, actions always speak louder then words, so when you do Tell {Y/N} but can't think of anything to say, you might find you've had something you've always wanted to do instead"

Zuko remembered the words his uncle said to him before they went to fight his father and azula, and understood what it meant for once.

So with that he took {Y/N} by the hands, and placed his lips to theirs in a kiss. {Y/N} was shocked by this, but melted into the kiss, hoping this meant what they thought this meant. Their hopes where answered when Zuko told them the three very powerful words in that moment

"I love you,"

"I love you too, Zuko"
