“AHHHH, YOU FREAKING BRAT! IT HURTS AH AH. LEAVE ME FOR GODS SAKE!” Dylan screamed trying to yank his arm away but Ivy’s grip was strong as hell.

“So.” Ivy let go of his arm and paused for a moment a wide smile replacing the earlier confused look, “It’s not a dream. DYLAN YOU GOT YOURSELF A GIRLFRIEND!”

“PINCH YOURSELF IF YOU WANT THAT EGGHEAD OF YOURS TO BE CLEAR.” Dylan again shouted at her stupidity. “And yes I have the love of my life.” Dylan said as Ivy could see blush creeping on his face.

“Awwww. It’s awfully cringe. But yeah Dylan tell me how it happened.”
Dylan narrated her the whole incident over their dinner. Ivy was so happy for her brother seeing his sparkling eyes throughout the dinner.

“I have never seen my brother acting all dreamy. Oh Lord, have mercy on me.” Ivy made of fun of her brother which caught him smiling as it soon faded away replaced by a worried look.

“Ivy I know that you are happy for me, but are you really happy with this. I don’t want to hurt you in any way after what you have been through.”

“Dylan, listen there's is nothing that can cause me harm with you dating. How could it hurt me? I know Isabella is the one for you. And she loves you with the same depth. I’m really happy for you. Also it’s not my past-gone-life should affect me now. I’m trying to forget it, Dylan, it’s high time you do it too. So don’t meddle everything up and start putting up a dating schedule.” Ivy smirked at Dylan and finally went to her room.

Everything was alright.

BUZZ….BUZZZ…..

The adrenaline rush dramatically increased as Ivy heard her phone vibrating even before she closed the door to her room. She knew it was from him. She quickly covered the distance between the door and her bed in two strides and hopped onto it grabbing her phone. The call ended.

17 missed calls her screen showed.

Oh crap! Evan!

Ivy fumbled through the contacts as she finally recalled Evan with her heart almost threatening to jump out of her.

Ringing

“Ivy, Ivy are you alright? Where are you now? I’m sorry I shouldn’t have left you there but something important came up so I had to-”

“Evan why are you so tensed? I’m in my home now, with my brother.”

It seemed as his heart was beating frantically too.

“Oh thank Gods! I should have dropped you before heading back to office. I should have made sure you were safe. It won’t happen again.”

Evan was… no he is worried for me. But….

“It’s ok. It’s not…” Ivy’s voice trailed off. Again it’s not as if we are dating. I should strike this possibility out of my mind. I should not think this every time I think of him.

“Ivy are you okay?”

“Uh… yes. Yeah. Okay Evan I might sleep now. See ya tomorrow. Remember work first.” Ivy hung up saying that.

She placed her hand right where her heart is; which was beating so fast now, no, each time she saw him. But she won’t believe her heart now.

Just then her phone buzzed again, but this time it was a text message:

Evan
Meet me tomorrow at the same coffee shop at 6 pm. Have something important to discuss.

That’s it. Ivy couldn’t control her shaking hands. Shaking from excitement or fear she didn’t know. Excitement of what he is going to talk about; will he confess? Fear of what she will have to hear and how will her heart respond.

Ivy
Yeah…done

Done is done. I will worry about it tomorrow.

Next day dawned marking the new semester working day. Ivy was almost ready when Dylan was washing up. Again she was going to be late.

Late?! Ivy you practically are one and half ahead of your university schedule. Do you expect me to hurriedly drop you off just for the sake of your interest rather than leisurely getting up and about for the day?”

Ivy pouted and went towards kitchen getting her phone from the sofa table.

Evan
Remember our promise today. ;)

Oh and how could she forget.

Ivy was dropped off on time by Dylan but for Ivy, she was half an hour late. Dylan just made faces at her as she took hurried steps towards the building.

The students were gathering around taking their seats as the notice board was being updated with the list of final year students going for training under various lawyers and prosecutors.

“Students this semester we will see the following subjects: Family laws II, Law of Tort & Consumer Protection Act, Constitutional Law and Professional ethics.”

The day went by smoothly with Ivy hanging out with Sophia and Liam during the break times; Ivy trying to roast or mostly ignore Olivia, and specifically avoid. Evan had this new-confidence-effect on Ivy regarding ‘how to deal with Olivia’, such that Ivy never took her comments to her heart.

“Ivy good luck with your boyfriend. Use protection.” Liam shouted jumping around playfully.

“What the HELL! It would be better if you stfu.” Ivy grabbed hold of him giving a warning glare.

“Leave that thing alone Ivy.” Sophia said while having grabbed Ivy’s full attention.

“You call me that thing. How could you?” Liam murmured pretending to be hurt, “Okay no one is paying attention to me now. I should shut my mouth.” He continued as he saw the two girls talking.

“I’m really nervous, Soph. What if I somehow mess up?”

“Listen. Stay calm. You don’t even know what he is going to talk about. Don’t assume things, both positive and negative. As expectations kills and overthinking drives one mad. Just go and meet up.”

“Okay guess I will head home now. I at least need to make myself presentable.” Ivy said brushing her hair.

“You are already beautiful, my lady.” Liam said suddenly.

“Thank you for the unnecessary TMI.” Ivy said waving them goodbye as Dylan came to pick her up.

One hour went by quickly. Now Ivy was sitting with Evan in the coffee shop, but with Evan frowning.

“Is everything okay Evan?” Ivy asked worriedly. Worried about him and about what kind of conversation is going to follow his frown.

“Let’s do this, Ivy.” Evan suddenly spoke up after a minute or two.

“What?” Ivy’s heart was racing. She wanted her wish to come true, but not now.

“Let’s file a case, against Ray.” Evan blurted out.

The sentence he was longing to say. The case which he wanted to win, for Ivy. The trial which he knew, if he won, Ivy would be the happiest; and he wanted that. For him this was far greater than confessing his love; for he wanted to build the trust which Ivy lost first.
