"No this should not happen. Ivy that's why I come to pick you up every day. You understand? People influence." Dylan was restless. His expression was not readable. It was like he wanted this to happen and he wanted to keep Ivy far away from this. But he can't hide her from him. That's what he feared too.
"How is this influencing Dylan? The case will be handled by a master prosecutor, so we don't need to worry much." Ivy said raising her fists in air to lighten the air between them.
"Dylan-" Evan started.
"Sir, for you." Dylan snapped back.
"Sir. You can believe me-"
"How on the earth can I believe a friend when her husband was a complete asshole?" Dylan interrupted.
"But Evan is-" Ivy reached for Dylan's hand.
"I don't care who is what, Ivy. You know it's dangerous." Dylan said concern filling his eyes.
"But the case is handled by-"
"Me. The case will be handled by me, Ivy." Evan interrupted her reaching for her eyes and looking confidently.
"No. I will be very happy if you enjoy your time together rather than fighting a case which we can't even win." Dylan said and went to his room slamming the door on his way.
Evan looked into Ivy's eyes. The level of trust was same, intact as it was yesterday.
"I said Dylan won't agree."
"Ivy, do you still want to do this trial?"
"Yes I haven't changed my mind. And I'm not going to." Ivy said as if it was obvious.
"But now I'm in-charge of this." Evan's voice faded.
"I believe you Evan. We can do it. We just have to convince this monster." Ivy eyed Dylan's door up and down.
Evan left their house half in defeat, half in hope that Dylan would agree. Dylan was not be blamed though. Despite Ivy's trust on him, he doubted that he could handle this case with much sanity. This was his first ever case, as an intern, and he was going to fight people up there on the top, people, lawyers who would do anything to let that monster free. Thinking of it now, Evan doubted himself; he couldn't let Ivy down and he couldn't fail in his attempt. That should never happen.
"Dylan, can't you please try once? Try trusting him once." Ivy said though she knew in his mind he already erased the possibility of suing Ray.
"What happened when you trusted Ray? What happened when I trusted that he would keep you happy, what happened when I trusted Ray? He might be still out there, no?" Dylan was expressing dreaded grief. Ivy knew something was up. To her answer her brother opened his mouth, "Babygirl you were worth the debt." Ivy froze, her mind struck. "Wha- what-"
"I read that letter, Ivy. What if he does that he wrote? Why didn't you tell me? Ever?" Dylan was torn when he read that. He wanted to rip Ray apart but then Ivy's face trailed in thin air. What if we sue him and don't have enough money and evidence to prove him guilty? What if after his release he came for her? Back then, Dylan let his thoughts vanish the very moment Ivy's face smiled projected across the room.
"Dylan, I- it was nothing. See he didn't interfere after that. But think about the life of other girls. Evan assured me, he will win this case and you know Mr. Kang, right, he will be helping too. We don't even know how many more girls are suffering. I might not be able to live my life in peace, when I know I could stop something I should do anything to stop it. Think about it Dylan, I completely believe Evan. I'm completely ready to fight too. I just want your approval."
