"Violet where were you?"
"Come on mom. Where I always go."
"Oh..."
"What about you? Why were you so stressed?"
"Just work. Nothing big." Like I figured.
I walked towards the fridge and tried looking for something appetizing.
"You know Violet... You should start making friends." I just laughed at that question and kept on searching.
"Come on! You can't only have Syndir as a friend."
"Maybe that's how I like it."
"Yeah but... Wouldn't you want to have those girl nights and stuff?"
"I already do that with Syndir." I decided looking in the freezer and hit the jackpot.
"Ice cream..." I smiled and whispered to myself. Thank you mom!!
"Wouldn't you want to do that with more girls-"
"No." I pulled the pub of cookies n' cream ice cream out and grabbed a spoon from the cabinet. As I began walking out the kitchen my mom had called me back.
"Violet sit down for a few."
"Mom I really wanna get to rea-"
"Violet." She said sternly and I mentally groaned and walked back to the kitchen table she was currently sitting on. I sat across from her and looked at her with a blank face.
"Yes?" I said with no emotion in my voice.
"Violet I really want you to make some friends and maybe... Go out and spend some time doing things that most teenage girls do. Except for the clubs."
"Mom please. As you may have noticed i'm not like most teenage girls and i'm sorry for that really. I like having one friend so that I don't have to worry about the other ones problems."
"But why don't you try socialising with some of the girls from school?"
"You've got to be kidding me! If you knew what-" I cut myself off not wanting to have to tell her about my misery days in school. "It's just that... They're different and... Have different interests... I wouldn't really get along with them..." I said looking down at the ice cream while slowly grabbing a scoop and putting it in my mouth.
"It never hurts to try."
She just wouldn't understand the shit I have to go through every.single.day! I'm always having to be called a slut or whore just because of some stupid rumor! I'm the opposite of that! I'm quiet, kind, shy... Not outgoing or pretty or popular. Why doesn't anyone see that!?
"Doesn't matter. It's my choice if I want friends or not. Not yours." She let out a sigh and gave up on the topic.
I stood up from the chair grabbing the ice cream with me and walking towards the stairs but not before turning my head and calling my mom.
"I'm sorry... For not being the daughter you wanted... I really am..." I said sincerely and began walking up the stairs having the name Calum pop up into my head once again.
