"So she just ignored the question?"
"Yeah she did! I tried asking but she just said to drop the subject so I did not wanting to piss her of even more."
"Huh... I wonder why..."
I was currently talking to Syndir on the phone since you already know, I don't have any friends. Well... Including Calum then 2. But I don't even know if were friends! I just bumped into him, chatted with him a little, and that's it! I need to stop getting over my head...
"We'll i'm sure she'll tell you soon right?"
"I hope..."
After I finished talking to Syndir about all my problems, I grabbed my headphones, my shoes, and headed downstairs. As I passed by the kitchen I heard my mom talking to someone on the phone with a stressed tone. Probably a friend from work. I walked outside towards the tree I always sat against. I come out here everyday to read some stories on my phone while listening to some music. Cool right?... Yeah I wish...
This might sound weird and all, but to tell you the truth, this tree is my other best friend. Don't tell Syndir! Anyways, I can't remember a day I haven't been to this tree. Just the way it looks attracts me to it. It grows apples and it also has those pretty pink flowers. Like in the movies! This tree... It's a part of me really. I grew up always having this tree look up at me from my window. We watched over each other in a way. It's roots are SO long but I don't mind. There was actually a time were some people on the other side of the street -where the tree stands- started complaining. I was literally the only one defending the tree. I was 13. They thought since I was a "little girl" they should just leave it, and they did thank God. Ever since then I haven't stopped coming here.
I decided to just sit for a while before reading. The weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. There were a few breezes here and there making it a bit chilly, but not for me. As I inhaled, my nostrils were filled with the scent of apples and roses. I'm so glad this tree doesn't smell bad. I felt too tired to read so I plugged in my earbuds and played my favorite album from Panic! At The Disco. Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die. As i'm closing my eyes, my peripheral vision catches something moving. I turn my head to see a boy walking. I try squinting my eyes to make out the person easier and notice it's Calum. Wait! Calum! As he gets closer he sees me staring and smiles at me. He stops walking forward and crosses the street heading towards me. I removed my earbuds and stood up waving at him.
"Hey Violet right?" He asked as he stepped onto the sidewalk.
"Yeah. Calum was it?" Yeah right! I knew his name so clearly, but I tried playing it cool you know?
"You're correct." He smiled.
"So what brings you around here?" I wondered.
"I'd actually like to ask you the same thing."
"Oh I live right there." I pointed at the house that stood directly in front of us.
"Do you now?" He asked still staring at my house.
"Mmhmm..." I smiled nervously. Now that he's here... It wouldn't be too bad to ask him some stuff right?...
"So uh... You're not from here are you?"
"No i'm not as you might have catched on from my voice i'm guessing?"
"Yeah..." I smiled once again.
"Well i'm from Sydney, Australia. What about you?"
"South Shields, Tyne and Wear, in-"
"England." He cut me off by finishing my sentence.
"Yeah England... How'd you know?"
"Well 1. I've visited England a lot before and 2. Your uh... Accent." He chuckled.
"Oh right..." I blushed and mentally face palmed myself. Stop being an idiot!
"You know as much as I'd love to play 20 questions with you, I don't have the time right now. Maybe another time?"
"Oh uh yeah sure." I stumbled over my words making me sound like an even bigger fool.
He chuckled looking down and shaking his head. At least I made him laugh?.... Once he looked back up his eyes caught sight of something and his smile was replaced by a little frown. I looked at the direction he was staring at and questioned him.
"Uh Calum are you-"
"I'm fine. Go home Violet. I'll see you later." Was all he said before he walked off the way he was previously going to.
... Did I do something wrong?...
