Danielle sat up in her room curled up on her bed. She knew that he was her mate, but she wasn’t sure she could accept it. He was a murderer. No matter if he denied it. You are denying both of us our mate! Jewel growled at Danielle.

He looks just like the man that killed my parents Jewel. Until I get an explanation, nothing is happening between us. Jewel growled in response, not liking the idea of being away from the man.

There was a knock on her door which made her look at it. “Go away.” She stated simply at the door. Not caring who was on the other side. Instead the door opened and she looked away and out the window, ignoring who she now knew was her uncle.

“Come on Sweet Pea. We need to talk.”

“No we don’t.” She heard her uncle sigh as the bed dipped slightly as he sat down next to her.

“You’re a lot like her, you know.” Danielle turned her head and looked at him.

“Like who?”

“Your mother,” Danielle looked down at her feet and playing with her toes, “She had a free spirit much like you do. She also made your father work to get her.” That caught Danielle’s attention and she crossed her legs and looked at her uncle.

“Mum made dad work to get her?”

“Indeed. He tried everything to win her over and she was so determined to break him that she almost did. Just let me point out that your father was far from suicidal, but he ended up getting one of their mutual friends to take your mother to a cliff face where he stood right on the edge. Of course, your mother became rather frantic and told him not to do it because she liked him too much. Proving then and there, that she wanted him just as much as he wanted her. So he faked the fact that he was going to jump, just to get her to admit her true feelings.” Danielle smiled, knowing just how much they did love each other.

She moved closer to her uncle and cuddled up to his side, hugging his chest as his arm wrapped around her shoulders. Tears started filling her eyes and they fell freely. “Sweet Pea.” Her uncles’ voice was soft as he pulled her closer and kissed the top of her head. “Shh, it’s okay.” She buried her face into his chest as she cried.

“I-I miss them so m-much.”

“I know. I know.” Was the mantra that her uncle chanted softly while rubbing her back to try calming her down. “Tell ya what. Why don’t we go for a walk? Get some fresh air and just relax a bit. ‘Cause good Lord knows you need it.”

“It’s 8pm Uncle Reagan.” He shrugs.

“So?” Danielle looks at her uncle incredulously and then shakes her head.

“If it’s all the same with you, I think I’ll just head to bed.” Reagan smiles and kisses the top of her head.

“Of course. If you need anything, you know where to find me.” She smiles at her uncle as he stands and walks out. Once her door is closed she grabs her pj’s before walking into her bathroom and having a shower.

Afterwards, while she is drying her hair, she becomes vaguely aware of a clanking sound. She puts her hair up in a high ponytail before walking out and looking around.

Clank. She looks at the window just as something hits it. She stares at it before she sees another small rock hit it and she furrows her brows. It only takes a few steps to get over to her window and she makes sure to stay out of view of whoever is outside.

Sarge was outside of the two story house and he was the one throwing small rocks at his mate’s window. He wanted to get her attention and he had a feeling that he had. He stopped throwing the rocks when he saw her shadow. “Dani!”
