Hot water ran down my body as I tried to wash away my tiredness that had set into my bones and made my brain foggy. Hoping that this and a very large cup of coffee was enough to wake me up for the walk to school. I was convinced that waking up at 5:30am should be illegal, especially when you were doing it for school and the air was this cold. Even as I got out of the shower into a steam filled room the air was chilly against my skin.

Picking outfits was getting easier, it only took me 5 minutes to choose black jeans and a grey Harley Davidson t-shirt knotted at the front, which I paired with a black pair of converse for all the walking I was going to be doing. By the time I made my way into the kitchen mum had left and the house was silent, only the ticking of the clock hanging on the wall filled my ears. The silence didn't help my thoughts not drift to yesterday afternoon, an event that since it happened had overtaken my brain and made me second guess everything that I had said. I wondered if I was too harsh and if my mean words kept Asher awake like it did me. Cleaning my dishes and pushing my earphones into my ears I grabbed my bag and left, locking the door behind me. I sighed as I got to the end of the driveway, bracing myself for the walk, hoping that me forgoing a jacket would encourage me to walk that little but faster.

As I got to the next-door neighbours yard someone came into view, his presence catching my attention causing me to stop. The stranger's hair was black, so black that it seemed to absorb the light. It was styled nicely and hung down his face sitting just above his chin, with a slight wave. From a distance I could see his face wan angular and handsome. His eyes were thin, angular and narrow and so dark they seemed to match his hair. His nose was straight and pointed, upturned slightly. His lips were full, perfectly rounded and a deep pink colour, which contrasted nicely against his golden skin. As he turned his head and started backing out silver piercings caught my attention from where they sat on his ears. I caught myself staring as he passed me, continuing to back out, his eyes reaching mine and giving me a small wink before leaving the driveway and taking off in the same direction I was heading. My face was flushed with embarrassment, I couldn't believe that I had openly stared at someone for so long. Trying my hardest to forget the interaction I turned up the volume of my music and pushed forward.

As the white building of the main building came into view, I picked up my pace, wanting to get to my locker before Homeroom. The closer I got to the building the stream of people started to condense, I was overtaking people who were walking particularly slow. The group by the front door caught my attention and I halted, my heart dropping as I registered who it was. Asher and his group of friends were outside the doors. His friends consisted of a pair of identical twins, both with blonde hair and eyes so green they were almost florescent, a raven haired girl who seemed to be dating one of the twins, their hands always on each other in some way or another. Lastly was another guy who always seemed to be with Asher, he was at least a few centimetres taller than the other boys who were at least 6 foot. His hair was black and sat nicely atop head, he had high cheek bones and a sharp jawline. He was also quite attractive, I wondered what was in the water in this town, breeding what seemed to be a brood of very attractive, fit teenagers.

The red head didn't go unnoticed as she tried to cling to Asher's side, who continued to shrug her off. I looked at him intensely, studying the features of his face as if I could forget them anytime soon. There were dark circles under his eyes and he was hunched over, even though I was a few metres away he looked up and his eyes met mine. He flinched, quickly looking away, an emotion I couldn't quite place was present on his face. My heart sank, my words once again replaying in my mind.

There was no way around it, either way I needed to pass the group. I was instantly regretting getting a locker in the main building. The students voices became clear in my ears as I removed my earphones and continued to walk towards the doors, trying to hold my head high. I followed the stream of people as I passed Asher's group, hearing a loud scoff as I tried to walk forward.
