I could still smell her all around my car, the scent of roses and vanilla overtook all my senses and made my brain almost short circuit. I remember the first time that scent hit me, hard like a truck. It was all consuming and it immediately made me want to run to her and wrap her in my arms and never let her go. The scene of seeing her for the first time was unlike anything I had ever experienced. I had been constantly in the dark and seeing her bathed my world in a warm glow. I thought of all the girls I had ever seen in my life but none of them compared to her, my mate. Isabella.

The name was the most natural thing in the world to say. Before learning it I already knew that I utterly and completely belonged to her, I would do anything for her and would spend the rest of my days proving it.

I had replayed the day I met my mate over and over in my head since I was 8 years old, watching my parents and wanting nothing more than to be as happy as they always were. In every scenario the girl was different but none of them compare to the real thing, the woman that I now had the pleasure of calling my mate. Every detail of her face was already etched in my brain and every time I found myself thinking of her a smile graced my lips.

As I entered the pack house different noises filtered through my ears. From the pups running and playing fighting outside, to teenage girls giggling and gossiping in their rooms.

The Alpha office was located to the rear of the house through various hallways which were lined with photos and portrait of Alphas from days gone. In less than a year I would take over from my father and take over as Alpha, someone solely responsible for all the members of our pack. It was a job that I had been training for as long as I can remember, recently the responsibility and fear of the situation hitting me harder than it ever had before. I paused outside the door, catching my father's scent before I even knocked on the door.

"You can come in Ash." My father's voice called from the other side of the door.

I opened the large dark oak door and was greeted with the tired face of my father William Beckett, the mighty Alpha of the Blood Moon pack. He looked up from whatever paperwork had been keeping him occupied and waved me over, a smile planted on his face.

"How's it going? You look tired." I stated, walking around the desk and look over his shoulder.

"Gee thanks, not all of us can slack off and live the high life like you." He said laughing, stretching back and extending his arms over his head.

"So, something exciting happened today."

"You passed Math!"

I let out a laugh, resting my hand on his shoulder.

"I'm working on it, but something even more exciting than that."

He turned his head and looked at me sceptically, raising an eyebrow while he looked me up and down, trying to get a clue as to what I could be talking about.

"OH MY GOD! Asher you didn't get anyone pregnant, did you? Tell me you didn't!"

"No! I'm glad you think so highly of me though." I said shaking my head, removing my hand from him and crossing my arms over my chest and leaning against his desk. He continued to babble aimlessly, about how he wouldn't be surprised and how he would love me no matter what saying if it wasn't him it was definitely going to be Jax.

"I found my mate!" I half yelled, loud enough to get his attention and stop whatever else he had started talking about. The room was silent except for the screech of my father's chair on the floor as he got up. He still hadn't said a word as he engulfed me in a huge hug. We hadn't hugged like this since my mother's funeral which was 8 years ago.

"I'm so proud of you! I have never been happier."

My heart swelled at his statement, my wolf being content with my father's response.
