Do you think of yourself as not a smart student?

Do you sometimes feel that you're not good enough in school?

Afraid that someone tease you because of your grade?

Want to improve your study skills, get better grades, or get more out of your education?

If you're like most students, you probably feel that you take some time to grasp new concepts or that you don't perform up to expectations because of that questions.

In society, it seems that successful students are born smart. No matter what else is going on in their personal lives or extracurricular activities, they always get good grades.

Grades aren't everything. Grades are only one part of your education.

And think about this:

Successful students aren't necessarily more intelligent than other students. They're just more disciplined and focused, and they've developed winning study habits.

So if you don't feel as if you're a smart student, don't worry.

Taking advantage of the 'wasted' time spent commuting from place to place and using it to complete schoolwork can really help students get ahead in their studies.

Now is the time to break out of your same-old study habits. Try these study tips and get the brain boost you need!

1. Set realistic day-to-day goals.
It's impossible to follow a schedule down to the minute, but it's still helpful to create a schedule.

2. Be consistent to your plan.

Not only is it essential that you plan when you're going to study, but it's also important you create a consistent, daily study routine. When you study at the same time each day and each week, you're studying will become a regular part of your life. You'll be mentally and emotionally more prepared for each study session, and each study session will become more productive. If you have to change your schedule from time to time due to unexpected events, that's okay, but get back on your routine as soon as the event has passed.

3. Always set goal.
Simply studying without direction is not effective. You need to know exactly what you need to accomplish during each study session. Before you start studying, set a study session goal that supports your overall academic goal.

4. Make reading as a habit.
Reading is the foundation of learning, after all. Strong readers are always looking for opportunities to increase their fluency and comprehension by picking books that are entertaining and challenging.

5. Divide it up.
Studying isn't fun to begin with, and forcing yourself through a study marathon will only make it worse. Dividing your work into manageable chunks and rewarding yourself when you finish each chunk will make studying more fun.

All in all remember to have fun. Though it may sound like fun is beside the point when it comes to being a successful student, it can actually be the key to your achievements. Just as taking breaks during a study session can help you focus more on your studies, taking breaks from studying completely to do work-out, hang out with your friends, watch a movie by yourself, or just to relax can help you regain the energy you'll need to really succeed in school. Having fun doesn't keep you from being a successful student. In fact, making time for fun allows you to study better when the time comes. If your studies are your only interest, then you'll be putting too much pressure on yourself.
