I'm astounded and stop moving momentarily. It's official! This kid's completely nuts! She stands up and dusts off her pretty dress.
Lorie > I'll call your parents to get the ransom and then you can go home.
With that, she skips away towards the house. She's not just gonna leave me here, is she?! I'm shocked by her attitude. She got me again! What a little pest! She turns towards me and claps her hands, laughing and hopping around.
Lorie > Say! This is fun! We're having a great time.
Then she turns her back on me and goes into the house, leaving me alone in the garden. She leaves, without calling my imaginary parents... Boy, is she going to be sorry when I get out of this mess! I promise myself to give her a taste of her own medicine no matter what her brothers say! She has no manners and no respect for others! I look around, but there's no way of freeing myself. Nothing sharp or pointed. Even the screws on the slide are safety screws. The only thing I can do is wait for someone to come find me... I hear footsteps approaching in the grass. I turn around feeling both relieved and ashamed. If it's Drogo who's come to gloat, I think I might lose my mind. But luckily it's Peter who I see moving in my direction. He crouches down next to me and shakes his head in amazement.
Peter > Lorie can go too far sometimes...
I stare at him very explicitly. I need him to understand my current state of mind. He nods.
Peter > I can see you're angry. Come on, turn around and I'll untie you.
I wait patiently, while he unties me, then I finally take the scarf out of my mouth.
> She's just awful! This is no way to play!
Peter > When I ran into her in the corridor, she was acting a little too cheerful. And you weren't around... so I knew she'd been up to one of her games.
I don't respond. I return to the house, absolutely furious with Lorie. The day had gotten off to a bad start, but I really thought things would get better! Lorie seemed like she really wanted to have fun with me! Well, she did have fun... at my expense! I'm not going to let this go! I run up the stairway four steps at a time with Peter fast on my heels.
> LORIE!
I'm holler down the hallway! My fists are clenches and I'm feeling determined. I guess Peter's hoping to calm me down before I get my hands on his sister. But he's wasting his time.
When I get to Lorie's room, the door is wide open and she's sitting on her bed, playing with her stuffed animals.
> Lorie!
She jumps and turns to me with a surprised look on her face. My anger rises to a whole new level.
Lorie > What are you doing here? I thought I'd tightened the ropes up pretty good!
I point my finger at her and yell in her face.
> You left me for more than an hour in the blaring sun! I was bound and gagged! What the hell is wrong with you? Why didn't you come and untie me?
She shakes her head and smirks. It's as if she's implying that I'm a complete idiot!
Lorie > I gave your parents 24 hours to pay the ransom and I still haven't received anything!
> Lorie! It was just a game! No one was going to pay you any money!
Lorie > You don't know that! And now you're untied, we'll never know! You've ruined everything!
