Midori stared at Ritsu's diary entry, too shocked to speak. Several thoughts went through her mind.

'I wrote in this before... I wrote in this notebook two weeks ago, the day Runa turned human... but I don't remember it... I don't remember it at all! And who's Haruka?!'

Midori began to shiver a little, due to how scared and confused she felt. She forced herself to take a deep quiet breath so she could calm down. "Ritsu... can I— can I ask you something?" she asked quietly so she didn't wake Runa. She decided that she wouldn't ask about the unfamiliar name just yet.

Ritsu turned and looked blankly at Midori, ready to listen.

              "H— have we met before...?"

              Ritsu nodded.

"I mean, besides that labyrinth back in Rosverine. Did we know each other before then?"

Ritsu thought for a moment, deciding how to handle the question. She eventually nodded.

              "Were we... friends?"

Ritsu almost felt guilty, nodding a third time.

Midori wasn't sure what to say. She was confused beyond belief. 'My memory HAS been altered.' She took another deep breath. "I— I'm sorry if I forgot you. Something must have happened to me..." she admitted. "Otherwise, I don't think I could ever forget someone like you."

Ritsu shook her head. She knew it was a good thing Midori didn't remember. Everything would be very different if she did. Ritsu smiled and flipped back a few more pages. She stopped on a page that was dated a couple months back and let Midori read.

Deer Diary,

I made it to Rosevareen and the witch Cube-ey told me about was already defeated. Me and Harooka met two magical girls named Medoory and Roona. Roona is really tall. They are really nice and offered us a place to stay. Roona eats a lot of chips and that makes Medoory mad. It's funny! Medoory cooked us dinner and says she'll teach me to hunt witches better! She also taught me to brade my hair! So I braded Medoory's hair. I like her hair. It's pretty! Harooka isn't sure how long we should stay but I like it here! I am happy! Anyways, Medoory is reading over my shoulder, oh nope, now she's going to the kitchen. I'm tired so I'm gonna sleep now. Bye!

~Ritsu

Ritsu underlined "I am happy!" with her crayon, and turned to Midori.

Midori stared at the page, then back at Ritsu. She smiled as a tear began to form. "I— I'm glad you're happy now. Whatever happened to us was in the past. We're both here now, and we're both safe," Midori reassured her. "And we're friends again, are we not?"

Ritsu smiled in agreement. Before the conversation could continue, Ritsu felt the urge to check her gem. She looked at it in its egg form. Nothing seemed out of place, yet she was certain she knew what was happening. She sighed, put the ring back on her left hand and held out a crayon to Midori again, wanting to continue where they left off.
