Sofia Snape's POV
I landed on my feet, trying my best to regain stability. Looking up, I was in awe at how beautiful the castle looked up close. The attention to detail was magnificent. The grass was greener than anything I had ever laid my eyes on, and the songs of birds from all around filled the atmosphere. Before I could fully grasp the true beauty of Hogwarts, I noticed Hermione impatiently waiting for me, hand on her waist. Eventually, she grabbed me by the hand and sprinted in front of Harry and Ron. Titling my head over my shoulder, I noticed they were trailing close behind, smirking at us.
We had finally reached the inside of the castle, and walked into the Great Hall. My dad would show me Hogwarts through a spell when I was younger, describing each room with extensive detail. But being here, in the castle, was different. The aroma, architecture-everything was just perfect. I finally felt like I might belong here.
"Sofia Snape, I see you're finally here." A loud, higher pitched voice called out from across the great hall.
I stood in my tracks and received glares along with gasps from every single person in the room. The attention was all on me and this only increased my uneasiness. I could feel my anxiety rapidly increase- my cheeks grew red and my palms became sweatier. But I couldn't let people think they could walk all over me, so I decided to shake off my nerves and turn into a whole new person, oozing with confidence.
"Come on up dear, we need to get you sorted so we can quickly move onto the first years." A gentle, kind looking woman finally made me feel at ease.
I strolled in the middle of the grand hall, feeling everyone's glares on my neck. Their whispers grew louder.
The sweet lady walked closer to me and whispered softly, "Sweetie, my name is Professor McGonagall and I am so pleased to meet you." Her warm smile was contagious.
"It's so nice to meet you, Professor."
"Sit down dear, let's get you sorted." She motioned for me to sit down on the tiny black chair, and immediately put the brown hat on my head.
Merlin, that thing was heavy.
Looking up from my shoes, I noticed everyone's eyes were on me- not one person looked away. Hermione looked like she was holding her breath and refused to breathe until I was placed in a house. Meanwhile, Ron was busy stuffing his face with a chocolate frog from the train, making me giggle. But my giggles were masked with the loud hat atop my head.
"Hmm... difficult. Very difficult."
"You have plenty of courage I see... and not a bad mind either." My eyes suddenly rested on a familiar pair of cold, silver eyes. His concern quickly distorted into a slight smirk as soon as my gaze met his. I tried holding eye contact to be as intimidating as possible, but his eyes felt like they were almost burning into me. My breathing became heavier, until my thoughts were cut off by the hat still analyzing me.
"There's talent, and a thirst to prove yourself... You're cunning, ambitious and you would do anything to get your way. I say..."
"SLYTHERIN!" I wasn't surprised. My father was a slytherin- that's all I've ever known. He despised Gryffindors, so thank Merlin I wasn't placed in there. Although, McGonagall did seem absolutely splendid. My eyes automatically trailed over to the Gryffindor table, locking eyes with Hermione, Ron, and Harry. They were visibly disappointed.
