Broken Silence

Once, we were many but ever so voiceless
Under normal circumstances, we were unheard
Sometimes, romanticized for being helpless
Then, shamed because we hungered
Death, either to illness, hunger, or apathy
Untold stories, lies caging truth in oblivion
Then came this calamity with a blinding clarity
End this spectacle! End this corruption!
Ready yourself, the bible, even the psalms
Together we can bring about change
Every one! Up in arms! Up in arms!
No more resilience, can't you see the outrage?
Over with this clownery we can no longer ignore
We won't be silenced; not now, not anymore
