Where did you put her Bangles??? we are late already, I asked glaring at zainab. Today's Nabila's nikkah and we are preparing her as it is time for her to go to her husband's house. For some reason only known to God, zainab chose this moment to showcase her talent. Now she's misplaced Nabila's Bangles due to her childishness.
You girls should hurry up, Nabila's mum yelled from downstairs, adding to my already growing frustration
What do we do now??? I asked as I turn to Fatima and Rukayya
We should change her jewelries and look for the lost Bangles later, rukayya suggested
You know Farouq personally bought it that I should wear it today and now I can't find it, he would be upset with me for being careless with it, Nabila said with tears brimming her eyes
You don't have to cry, we would find it, Fatima said. Why don't Mimi and Rukayya take you out and me and zainab look for it. By the time you've finished receiving the blessings of your elders, we would have found it
That's a good idea, come on Nabila, I said as we both left the with rukayya leaving Fatima and Zainab who were frantically searched for the Bangles
We headed to the living room where the older members of her family were seated waiting to give their blessings. As soon as we got there, Nabila went to kneel in front of her grandma who will start with the blessings but all that was in my mind was that they should find the Bangles because I don't want Nabila to have a misunderstanding with her husband on their first night together.
Here it is, Fatima said from behind me
You startled me, I said collecting the bangles from Fatima and quickly walking over to where Nabila is by the car to help her out it on. She looked ecstatic as she saw the bangles.
Alright it is time already, we've received several calls from the groom's family, they are expecting their bride, Nabila's dad called out and we all started filing into the car. Fatima, rukayya and I sat with Nabila in the backseat while Zainab sat in front. (Serves her right for making us panicky) 🙂.
The wedding went well although stressful, taking Nabila to the her husband's house was the best part of it because it made us 500 thousand richer(not easy to have a bff whose husband is loaded😌). Anyways, am on my way to go submit my resignation letter cos am quitting my job and starting my "pre marriage lessons" with my grandma. Trust me, am in no way looking forward to it🙅.
Stepping into the office building I almost did not want to quit anymore because the memories came running to me. The happy moments, the scolding for being late, the goofiest moments but everything has to come to an end anyway. I shrugged and went to the managers office to submit the letter. He tried to persuade me out of it but my mind is made up and am not intending to change it anytime soon. After saying my goodbyes to my fellow workers, I left there. I am not in the mood to go home so I went to the park instead.
The little girl of about 6 months was pulling at her mother's dress. Another baby who looked to be her twin was sleeping on the picnic mat. The sight was adorable and made me wish I'll get married soon and have this happiness too. Looking at those adorable humans, I have no regrets coming here. Actually I wish I could stare at them all day but that would make me weird right? But do I care? No!!!
Ring!!! Ring!!!! I heard my phone ring in my bag, upon bringing it out
Affy ; The person said into the receiver.Ya Moha!!!! I exclaimed into the receiver
How's my favorite younger sis doing? He asked with a smile in his wordsThis is not life oo ya Moha, you can't even call me all this months, and FYI I am your only younger sister, I said sarcastically
Of course which other younger sister will put up with this uncaring older brother, u deserve to be beaten; he said in a melodramatic voice
You should stop, that won't work on me, you'll just forget somebody and keep . Ai wannan ba rayuwa ba ( that's not life na), I said still not accepting his apology
I promise I'll start calling frequently now, will you let me off the hook now?? He tried bargaining
I'll think about it, in the meantime you can try bribing me, I might forgive you quicker, I said smirking I might as well make some cash
Alright man, how much do you want, he asked defeatedly
50 thousand should be enough, I said with a smile
Haba, so you want to drain me?? I'll send 20 thousand, and no bargaining, he said
Okay, I said in a drawling voice. If I argue too much, I might even lose the 20k
So I heard you've started taking marriage lessons from your grandma, he said in a teasing voice
Unfortunately yes but I guess it's for the best, I replied
It's definitely for the best because with your poor ability to maintain a house, it wouldn't take long before you'll be sent back home, he replied laughing
That's encouraging bro, very encouraging, I said sarcasm dripping from my wordsI know right, anyways gotta go, he said
Anyhow, Sha don't forget my money oooo, I said quickly before he ended the call
I won't, you like money too much he said ending the call.
I looked at my phone smiling. I wouldn't be surprised if he sends the 50 thousand I originally asked for. I love my ya Moha.
I looked up and saw the woman packing up. Her babies strapped in the chairs. I stood up and prepared to leave too. I got into my car and headed straight home with many thought raiding my mind..
