"finneas you're taking this as a joke". i groaned, pulling at my roots as i paced my brother's room.

"no i'm not"

"yes you fucking are! you keep saying just tell her as if it's that simple."

finneas looked at me dumbfounded. "is it not..?"

i looked at him with my mouth agape before i sat down on his bed in front of him.

"i have been a bitch to her since the day i met her. i don't know how to handle my emotions. i've never loved someone like this-"

finneas's eyes widened as i threw my hand over my mouth. "oh my god... you love her?"

"no. i mean, yes- fuck, i don't know!". i threw my head into my hands. i feel so stupid and confused.

"billie.. you have to talk to her"

"i cant just talk to her. things are so weird right now. i haven't even talked to her since she left my house, aside from a few smiles and waves across the room in school".

"okay well, it's the weekend right now. and you guys have a week off right? you have these entire 7 days to talk to her billie. don't waste it" he responded

i groaned loudly and laid down of the set of pillows sprawled out on his bed.

as finneas opened his mouth to speak, his phone started to ring. "shit- claudia's calling me. give me like 10 minutes."

he stepped out of his room and i sat up. staring at his computer, i bit on the corner of my bottom lip as i saw that he had he equipment set up.

i got up and grabbed one of the small microphones, pulling it towards the bed and pressing play on his computer.

i picked up my journal and looked through multiple pages, sucking my teeth when none of them appealed to how i felt right now.

i threw the journal down and sighed. closing my eyes for a minute trying to collect all my thoughts into a song.

i cleared my throat and grabbed onto the mic.

Haven't slept in a week or two, or two

my mind flooded with my feelings for aaliyah. i've always liked her. from the moment i saw her my first day back. she always looked too good for me, but the way she challenges me.

the way she doesn't just back down at every word i say.

it made her different than anyone else i've ever encountered.

it made me fall for her.

i rolled my tongue over my bottom lip as i started to sing again.

I think I might have fallen in love
What am I to do?.

i pushed back the mic and paused the recording on my brother's computer.

"okay as i was saying-" finneas started as he walked back into the room, pausing when he saw me standing up and moving his mic back.

"i gotta do something. i'll be back"

finneas smiled at me and moved out of the way for me to pass. i grabbed my keys and ran over to my car, pulling up aaliyah's address on my phone.

i always forget how close she lives to me.

aaliyah flicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth as she stared at the ceiling. her mom had just left, leaving her home alone.

analy was busy and aaliyah had been avoiding tatiana lately, so there was no point in calling her.

she was about to take a nap when the doorbell rang downstairs. aaliyah got up, confused as to who could be showing up at her house right now.

she pushed her feet into her bed slippers as the floors in the house were cold due to their broken heater. the doorbell rang again. who ever it was seemed impatient so she walked a little faster.

she swung open the door and saw billie standing there. she looked really nervous.

"billie ?" aaliyah asked, stepping aside so the taller girl could walk in.

"is everything okay?".

billie turned and ran her hands through her hair. "yeah i'm good. i just- need to talk to you about something".

aaliyah grew worried. last time billie needed to talk to her, she came over and threatened aaliyah to stay away from people.

even though things have been friendly between them, aaliyah still had her guard up.

just incase.

"yeah, sure". aaliyah motioned for billie to follow her as she walked upstairs towards her room.

aaliyah sat down on her bed, tapping the space next to her for billie to sit, as the way billie stood in front of her was making her nervous.

moon soon trotted into the room, jumping on top of billie's lap and laying there. she started to pet him, which seemed to call down the nervousness she had came in with.

"okay so. i guess i should start from the beginning huh?" billie said, looking down at the puppy in her lap.

aaliyah sat quietly, waiting for billie to continue.

"umm, i wanted to apologize. for everything."

aaliyah's heart fluttered. billie had come over to apologize;

not to threaten her, not to bully her. but to apologize to her.

"i'm sorry for how i treated you my first day back. and everything i did since then. the way i would use you for our assignments and then ignore you afterwards, the way how i'd push you around. all of it. i'm really, really sorry".

aaliyah pouted as billie spoke. truth be told, aaliyah forgave billie the day her feelings for billie began to grow. she couldn't be mad and fall in love at the same time.

she wasn't capable.

"billie, it's okay. i forgive yo-"

"wait! don't finish that sentence until i say everything i have to say. if i don't get it out now, i wont get the same chance again."

aaliyah nodded. letting billie say everything she needed to.

"i only act like that when i'm trying to hide from my feelings. i cover them with anger and i take that anger out on other people."

"i know it's bad. i don't know why i'm like this, but i never wanted to hurt you."

billie looked up, meeting aaliyah's confused eyes.

"i could never hurt you" billie paused for a moment. thinking carefully about her next set of words.

"not when i feel like i'm falling in love with you"

there was silence. aaliyah stared back at billie in shock. the girl who she had been falling for just admitted that they felt the same way.

"aaliyah please say something" billie pleaded, feeling as though she made a mistake.

aaliyah came back to her senses, a wave of confidence washing over her as she carefully took up her hands to hold both sides of billies face.

she searched billies eyes, looking for any signs of discomfort before leaning in, placing a small, quick kiss against her lips.

billie's eyes widened, not expecting such a reaction from the smaller girl.

it was aaliyah's next choice of words that made billie's heart explode.

"i think i'm falling for you too.."
