Chapter Twenty Two

They arrived in Ohio and pulled into Columbus and they went to the venue. They all got off the bus. Brizee watched Nick walk into the venue without looking at her. She knew she made a mistake. She walked to Emily's dressing room and went in and sat down. Emily came in.

"Briz," Emily said.

"I'll be fine, Em," Brizee said. Emily nodded. AJ came in with Emily's bag. He kissed her and went to his dressing room. Emily sat down next to Brizee. Brizee started sobbing and Emily held her.

Nick sat in his dressing room staring at the walls when Brian and Kevin came in. He looked at them and looked back at the wall.

"Frack, what's going on," Brian said. Nick shook his head and leaned forward and held his head in his hands. Brian sat down beside him.

"I love her so much, Frick, I just wanted her all the time, I was so stupid to do that," Nick said.

"Nick, are you saying that you shouldn't have gotten together with her to begin with," Kevin said.

"No, I didn't say that, I meant wanting her all the time, it was too much at one time, I should have thought of how she felt," Nick said.

"You two need to talk this out," Brian said.

"I can't now, I blew it, I really blew it, she'll want nothing to do with me now," Nick said.

"You won't know until you try," Kevin said.

"I hurt her, Kevin, told her it was over," Nick said.

"Tell her you made a mistake, that you didn't mean it," Kevin said.

"I don't know," Nick said.

"Nick, you love her, right," Brian said.

"Oh yeah, more than I thought possible," Nick said.

"Then go talk to her," Kevin said.

"She's not ready to talk to him yet," Emily said from the doorway.

"Emily," Nick said.

"She is going onstage with me tonight, talk to her after, she might be ready to talk then," Emily said. Nick looked at the walls.

"I screwed up, didn't I," Nick said.

"No, Nick, her reaction said it all, it didn't bother her on the bus, but she broke down crying in the dressing room," Emily said. Nick leaned back and rested his head against the back of the couch and stared at the ceiling. He closed his eyes as tears ran down his cheeks.

That night, Emily was onstage. She stood in the middle of the stage and looked out at the crowd.

"Please welcome my stepsister, Brizee, who is going to sing a couple of songs for you," Emily said. Brizee came onstage. Nick, Brian, Howie, AJ, and Kevin were watching from backstage.

"I hope you like the songs, I wrote them," Brizee said.
