The Assignment (Kylo Ren X Reader)

Chapter 52

The Emperor is dead and you're free but you've still got one problem.

You and Kylo have to get out of here without getting yourselves killed in the process.

"Oh Stars." You start pacing, freaking out now that your reality has set in.

"What's the matter?" Kylo asks you, worried.

You stop and face him, panic clear on your face. "How are we going to get out of here? I mean even if we get past the initial guards outside there are probably hundreds between here and the loading dock and even if we could make it there unscathed, take off without anyone trying to stop us, make it back to Starkiller without dozens of the guards coming after us, What do we do when we get back to base? There's no way we can go on like normal. We just killed the Emperor." You start to ramble and this makes you pace again.

Kylo reaches out and stops you. "We just killed the Emperor." He says simply.

"Yes, we did and now we are fucked." You answer but he just gives you a look, one that you can't read.

"The Emperor is dead." Kylo restates what he just said and now you're confused.

"Yes. He is." You don't get it, is he in shock?

He says your name in a slightly annoyed tone then he finally explains it to you. "When the Emperor dies, then his second in command will take over. His second in command used to be Snoke but he's gone now and I'm Supreme Leader."

Oh. My. Fuck. 

"We just killed the Emperor." You say, understanding it now.

"We just killed the Emperor." He says with a smile.

You are both free and now that Kylo has ultimate power, that means you've won the war too. It's actually over.

You can't contain your excitement and you run to Kylo's arms. Embracing him because now that you're free this moment will mark the beginning of forever.

"Let's go home." He says after you release each other.

"Not yet. There's something I need to do first." You tell him and you prepare to make your closure with this planet because you hope to never see it again. 

As you make your way to the living quarters you can feel the environment of Exegol shift. Exegol is a relatively small planet and word seems to travel fast. From the sounds of it, people just seem to think the Emperor has let you and Kylo go. Thankfully there is no more Emperor to confirm or deny that rumor because the guards seem to be too confused to interfere with what you're doing. 

As you're walking, you realize this is the first time Kylo's seeing any of this. He's only ever seen a portion of your room during a force connection but other than that he has no idea what the living quarters look like. It's a strange thought because, to you, this was your home for so long.

Kylo speaks your name, pulling you back to the now. You march right past your own room and to the only person you know won't question a thing you say.  

And low and behold Leo sits on his bed. His appearance is what shocks you the most. You're not sure how long you were in that dungeon, but it looks like Leo hasn't been sleeping or eating since you were sent down there.

He sits and stares blankly at his bed. He doesn't even seem to be aware that you're right in front of him.

"Leo."  You say his name and it's like something clicks in him.

He snaps his head up and meets your eyes. Once, he sees it's you he bolts out of bed but hesitates slightly, like he doesn't believe you're real. After a moment and once he comes around to the idea that you're real he smiles and it feels good to have Leo back.
