The Dragon Princesses (#1 Dragon Series)

Chapter 1

Alexia's POV

    It was a normal Monday morning for Aldonza and I, lounge under the sun and lazy around (and stay alert of our surroundings) because we finished school early and we are in hiding. Sorry to be rude, I am Alexia Belle Alessandro and beside me is my twin sister, Aldonza Camila Alessandro. We are dragons and are on the run from him. We don't really know who he is or why he is chasing us all we know is that he  wants us dead for some unknown reason.

    I remember our caretaker, Aunt Caroline but we called her Aunt Caro for short. She died 8 years ago when we were 10. She was a strong dragon in her late sixties and cared for us like her own children. She had a mate who died due to stroke. I vividly remember her telling us about twin sisters that are going to save the supernatural race one day, we asked her if she was referring to us and she would always reply positive. But honestly I don't understand, I mean, how would two rouge dragons, on the run and have a heavy threat over their heads save the supernatural race when we don't know what is chasing them.

    Aunt Caro was killed by some men that invaded our house and asked for the princesses.

Flashback

Aldonza and I were playing with Aunt Caro in the living room, when she suddenly stopped playing. We sensed something was wrong with Aunt Caro.

"Aunt Caro, what's wrong?", Aldonza asked worried. Aunt Caro placed her index finger to her mouth telling us to keep quiet. She stood up carefully and dragged us through the hallway, into her room. She quickly switched on the light and led us to her shelf of books. She pulled a red book with a golden spine and a secret door that led to a hallway opened beside her wardrobe.

"Look girls, there are some bad guys coming, and I want you guys to be safe, when I give a shout through the mind link, run down that hall, turn on the first right then go left and you will see a ladder, climb up that ladder and open the latch and push open the hatch. Then run North, you will see a cottage, knock on the door and you will see a pale woman with icy blue eyes, her name is Jane and she will help you", she said in a hurried whisper.

"What will happen to you Aunt Caro?", I had asked

"Don't worry about me girls, just go when I -", there was a crash on the front door and heavy foot steps searching the house. Aunt Caro hurriedly stood and gave us her last good bye kiss and closed the door. Aldonza and I shared a look like we knew what would happen after this. We stayed as quiet as possible making our breathing  light so as not to be heard, we held each other's hands and prayed they wouldn't find us. We heard the door get kicked open.

"Aah Caroline", said a very gruff voice.

"Thomas", said Aunt Caro with a voice that sounds like she is ready to kill

"What a nice surprise" said another voice, he sounded younger than the first one.

"James", I could almost see the snarl on her face

"It would be lovely to bring you back to the king and tell him of how you went against him, but...", said the gruff voiced man

"we could also take situations into our own hands and end you here..." said the other one.

"So if you want your ugly old life, hand us the princesses" . We heard a growl so vicious that I was scared to my core. Aunt Caro scoffed.

"I'd rather die than hand them over", said Aunt Caro.

"If you say so...", said Thomas. Before we could even process what was happening, there were growls and we heard nasty blows delivered. Some how we knew Aunt Caro was slowly getting tired but we had to wait for her call.
