"This is a load of nonsense! What kind of school is this!?"
——————————

I stared at the envelope in front of me for a second or two. It was a yellowish parchment with green lettering written on one side in a fancy font.

The lettering was rather large but looked as if someone had carefully created the lines themselves.

How odd.

It was addressed to;

Miss Irina Salvatore,

Room 7B,

Lunch Hall

The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.

No doubt about it, that letter was mine, that couldn't have been anyone elses. The address was too precise. The odds it was a mistake were astronomical, and considering an owl delivered it made it even stranger. How did they know who I was? How did they know where I was at that exact moment?

I looked at the parcel for a few seconds and then over my shoulder to the rest of the room, only to find the entire school gazing at me in confusion.

I was about to say something to them but got distracted by Dan stealing the paper off my plate. He turned it over so he could open it. On the envelope was a red seal that was imprinted with a large H in the centre.

Surrounding it was what looked to be a badger, an eagle, a lion and a snake. In a ribbon-like pattern was the name Hogwarts?

To say the least, this letter was very peculiar.

The boy was half-way through ripping it open when I snatched it back.

"Hey!" Dan said playfully and adding a smile on the end.

"It's addressed to me, I want to open it."
He rolled his eyes so far into the back of his head that it looked as though they had disappeared. Dan leant in toward me in curiosity, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mystery bundle.

With one movement, I tore the paper and chucked the envelope to Dan. Once I had  unfolded the creased parchment, I saw a handwritten message in cursive, and it looked as though it was in ink?

Who still uses ink?

I started scanning over it and it read;

Miss Irina Salvatore,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed, a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1st September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

Yours sincerely

Minerva McGonagall,

Deputy Headmistress.

My first thought was why did they want an owl. I Know its odd, but I tended to focus on the small things in a stressful situation.

"Well. What does it say?" The mesmerised expression on my face gave Hope some hint as to how weird the message was, but I just kept looking at the letter.
