A/n: Small note, the quote under this is NOT mine. It was used in the TVD series so yeah... hope you enjoy.

It's been a week of tedious classes and non-stop studying since I got here. I admit the situation could be a lot worse; I could be dealing with Silas or Caid or Klaus so in hindsight, all is well. Shockingly no one has suspected anything about me or what I am, but that can change more rapidly than snapping your neck.

Everything here was different to back home. And the amount of homework I'd received had been piling up on my desk for days. When I wasn't in classes I was studying, and when I was doing neither I was working on an essay that had to be handed in an hour later. Professor McGonagall noticed how much I was struggling and offered to assign me a tutor, but as usual, my pride got in the way- a huge wall blocking me from progress because I couldn't let anyone see my weaknesses.

Even if that'd mean failing.

There were only three subjects I was able to keep up with in the first few days: Potions, defence against the dark arts and divination.

Potions was the same as back home and I always excelled in the subject; I could tell you how to make draught of living death backwards, forwards, left and right from memory.

DADA was quite simple. The main reason being using defensive spells had become second nature from the age of four or five. However, the disarming charm was one that eluded me. For some reason, I just couldn't grasp it; whether I accidentally made something explode or nothing happen at all. Theodore Nott offered to teach me the spell after our class because he sat next to me, but once again, my pride prevented me from accepting the proposal.

Divination... Divination was all new to me but was fascinating regardless. Being able to read tea leaves and tarot cards, predict future events and develop psychic abilities had a certain appeal to me. Apparently, it wasn't a very popular subject, but it might just have been my favourite.

Whilst in the middle of writing my charms essay at six in the morning, there was a knock on my door.

I wonder who it was? I had also been avoiding any and all interaction with actual human beings and constantly having my nose stuck in a book so I could get my work done. Thankfully, my approach to catching up academically was working. Only a few pages away from knowing what the 'average' 15-year-old Hogwarts witch would know.

Another knock rang through the dorm.

"It's open".

I shouted and turned around, noticing a very lively Elodie standing in the doorway.

"Hey Elie, what's up?"

She walked through the doorway and clicked the door into its place before she made her way over to my desk.

"I haven't seen you since first day and I was kind of getting worried. You haven't attended any meals and once classes are over, you come straight here. Are you ok?"

She's worried about me? That was quite sweet. She was right, I hadn't been acting as people would say, 'normal' or 'okay'.

"Oh yeah I'm fine. I joined four years late and I thought I was a muggle before all of this..."

Lie.

"...So I needed to catch up on my studies. Only a few more books to read and papers to finish, then I'll be all caught up".

"That's good, really quick actually considering the situation. When do you think you'll finish?"

"Probably later today after we finish classes".
