Grudges

"What the fuck was that stunt you pulled earlier?! You almost strangled me to death!"

He just stared at me. "Maybe that's what you get for turning your back on us."

"What the heck happened to you? You never treated me this awfully."

He shrugged. "People change, Tord. Just like your mind."

"What did I change my mind on?"

"You decided to come back. After all this time. You decided to make yourself known to us that you were still alive. Do you know how painful that is? To have your ex friend return out of the blue and become all buddy-buddy with us again so you could blow our asses up a second time?!"

"Why aren't we friends anymore?" I questioned, my stomach dropping.

"Really?! You forgot?! I'll tell you why we're not friends! Because you said that you didn't need us anymore. You had everything you wanted and so you just pushed us away!"

"Edd, I didn't mean that. I was too caught up in fame," I lied.

"Well it sure as hell sounded like you meant it." He crossed his arms and scoffed.

I took a step toward him. "I promise you, I didn't mean it. Trust me, right after this happened life got pretty depressing."

He got up and patted me on the shoulder. "I'll trust you this one time. Don't disappoint me."

I hugged him. "Good to have you back."

Tom came downstairs. "I could strangle you right now, Edd."

I backed away smiling. "He's all yours." I said to Edd, who was frozen in fear.

"HOW DARE YOU TREAT ME LIKE A BULL!" He punched him in the stomach. "And why were you practically hanging Tord?"

"Bulls charge at the color red, don't they-" He hit him again.

"YOU COULD HAVE KILLED HIM!"

"Since when do you care so much?"

I felt my face heating up, so I looked away. Tom turned pink.

"I don't know. Maybe I don't want fucking animal control on our doorstep."

"Ooh, maybe you're right." Edd started to worry. I'll go check things out. Stay out of trouble."

He ran out in a hurry. Tom and I just stared at the ground. "So... Why did you save me?"

"Okay, so this is gonna sound crazy, but..."

"But what?"

"My monster has some kind of connection with you. That's why you're able to put it down with simple contact."

"I guess we need each other."

"Yea." Awkward silence filled the air while we just stood there.

"Hey what are you guys doing? I brought pizza!"

There was a crashing sound upstairs. "OMG PIZZA!"

Matt slid down the stairs and ran towards Edd, stealing the pizza in the process.

Tom and I laughed.

Just like old times.
