Bring.
The school bell leaves a ringing in my ears.
“We have so much to talk about. Wanna meet back here at lunch?” Allegra asks.
“Sure. See you then.” I turn away and run off to my first period. As I look back I see Allegra running in the other direction, towards the B wing. I slow down when I see Emma running towards me.
“Hey.” she says, out of breath. We walk into first period and stroll over to our table. Emma heaves her backpack off and lets it thud onto the floor. I grab my notebook and sit down.
“Good morning class.” Mrs. Nemes says.
“Good morning Ms. Nemes,” We mumble.
“Mrs. Nemes.” she corrects us. “Take out your notebook and begin the warm-up.” I'm not paying attention. I'm too busy thinking about Allegra. I don't know much about her. I guess that was why we're meeting for lunch.
“Hey.” I nudge Emma in the arm. She tears her eyes off the board and looks at me.
“What?”
“What do you know about Allegra?”
“Allegra? Uh... She’s in my third period.”
“That’s French class, right?” I interrupt.
“Yeah. And I think I’ve seen her walk over to geometry sixth period before.” So she takes geometry too. Another thing we have in common.
“Why do you want to know?” Emma asked.
“I’ve just seen her around school and wanted to know more about her.” It's not a lie.
“Oh, ok.”
Mrs. Nemes drones on the rest of the period. After first period, I make my way to art, while Emma walks to social studies.
---
I'm not paying attention in art while Mr. Galford explaines the dimensions of the face. Or while we run the mile in P.E. When lunch finally rolls around after fourth period I can barely contain my excitement. I jump out of my seat right as the lunch bell rings. I run toward the tables at the back of the grove. I’m the first one here. I look around for Allegra.
“Boo!”
I jump and turn around to see Allegra standing behind me. “It was as if I had just materialized out of thin air, huh?” Allegra winks at me.
“Yeah, but that’s impossible.” I say sarcastically. We both laugh. People start to file into the grove.
“Maybe we should go somewhere a little more… private.” I suggest.
“Sure. How ‘bout..”
“Ice cream.” we both say at the same time.
“Are you ready? Make sure to teleport behind the shop.” Allegra reminds me.
“I know.” Allegra closes her eyes. So do I. The last thing I see before I teleport is Emma walking into the grove.
---
Shoot. Emma. I forgot to tell her I wouldn’t be eating lunch with her today. I’ll have to explain later.
Whoosh.
Allegra appears next to me.
“Let’s go!" I say.
We walk into the ice cream shop and a burst of cold air hits us.
