Can We Stay Like This Forever?

Takes place sometime after S7 but before S8.

"Mama! Papa! Wake up! Wake up!"

Nya groaned, eyes slowly coming to focus on her son. Lloyd was bouncing up and down on the bed; shaking them like it was Christmas.  In a way it was, but Nya was too groggy to remember why so she pulled the covers over her head. 

"Hey, buddy!" Jay exclaimed beside her. "You excited for today?" 

Lloyd nodded his head. "Yeah!" Then Nya felt light peak through the blanket as he peeled it back. "Are you excited, Mama?" 

"Yep, I'm sooo-" a yawn interrupted her, clarity coming to her mind, "-excited that we get to finalize your adoption today!" She wrapped her arms around him, pulling him down to rest on her shoulder. Her boyfriend cuddled up on the other side of Lloyd.

Nya laid there, soaking in the moment. She felt safe. She felt happy. She felt at home, which was a feeling she didn't get often.

"Can we stay like this forever?" Lloyd asked after a few minutes. Her and Jay chuckled, though she felt the same way.

"We really want to, but we gotta go get ready for you hearing," Nya told him. Lloyd immediately sprang up

Jay smiled. "Go on and get dressed, Bud. Mama and I will be out in a few minutes."

"Okay!" Then he scampered out of the room.

Jay pulled her into a side hug. "We did good."

Nya pecked his cheek. "We did." A few moments passed before she spoke again. "No matter what happens, will we always stay like this?"

"Like what?"

Nya searched her brain for the right words. "...like a family."

Jay squeezed her tighter. "Always Waterbug. Always."
