One Second Longer

A series of drabbles from post-season 8 through post-season 9 (only the fourth one is 100 words but shhh)

Nya didn't want to believe Lloyd when he first told them. But the way his eyebrows creased, how his voice wavered, his eyes filling with tears as he just stood there broken, deep down Nya knew he was telling the truth.

So she ran. She ran through the streets and alleys now covered in rubble. Only instinct carried her as the only sound was ringing and her vision was too blurred with tears.

Her face scraped against a piece of debris as she fell, but it was nothing compared to the pain in her chest.

She punched a piece of wood. It wasn't fair! Her entire family was ripped away from her. Just like that. How could she lose the person who cared for her all her life? How could she lose the people she considered the best of friends? How could she lose him... the one person she loved more than anyone else in the world that she so desperately needed a hug from.

But he wasn't here. None of them were. They were gone. And they weren't coming back.

So she screamed. She screamed for her fallen brothers, whose lives were lost too soon. She screamed at Garmadon, the one who caused their downfall. She screamed at Harumi, the catalyst of it all. Even when her throat was dry and raw, she still screamed and then some.

Then she fell to her back, blinking at the starless sky. Sobs wracked her body as she tried to figure out how to breathe at the same time. She didn't want to think, didn't want to breathe. Yet she still gasped for air to enter her burning lungs, mind caught in a vicious loop of disbelief, pain, and heartbreak.

In the midst of her grief, she remembered that Lloyd was still here. Lloyd, their precious green bean who gave them hope. Reminded her that ninja never quit. So Nya wouldn't quit either.

A fierce wave of determination washed over her and she immediately sat up. She had to protect Lloyd. Even if it meant sacrificing herself in the process she would do everything in her power to keep him safe. Because what else was there left for her to do?

Because if she lost him, she lost the little bit she had left.

She slowly got to her feet, then looked at the sky once more. Where they would be resting in peace.

"I-I promise."

Five stars twinkled back.

___________

The sheer joy she felt when they found out their friends were alive was so overwhelming it almost made her cry. A whirlwind of hope washed over her as she found parts of the ship, but not others. Then, from the rubble, out peeked something blue- a piece of Jay's gi. It was torn and tattered, making her heart sink. Were they really doing okay? She quickly shook her head. They were alive, maybe hurt and broken, but alive. That was more than enough. She carefully folded the cloth and placed it in her pocket. There was a city to save after all. And Nya was not losing any bit of Jay she had left.

___________

Nya couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth. Leaving the city, was she crazy? But there were only four- no three- of them, and too many enemies to count. Their missing friends were nowhere in sight, and she was starting to think they were dead again. But Lloyd wanted to hold on, stay in the city for just a bit longer. Maybe Lloyd was the crazy one! Yet internally, she was proud of him. Just days ago he was giving up hope but now it was the other way around. So as much as she wanted to turn and run the other way, she wouldn't. For Lloyd. For the city. For her family. She'd hold on, just a little longer.

___________

The hug didn't last long, but time might as well have stood still as she finally wrapped her arms around Jay, soaking in his touch. She almost couldn't believe he was real. But his warmth radiated around her like a warm summer's day. His breath ran down her neck alongside the rise and fall of his chest. His heartbeat was quick and wild and so Jay that it comforted her greatly. His arms tightly enveloped her as if he never wanted to let her go. Because she didn't either. It only lasted a few seconds, but now they were together.

___________

Nya sprang out of the battle wagon. They won! And she couldn't wait one second longer. Her skin was itching, crawling for his touch. There wasn't even so much as a "hi" spoken as she tackled him to the ground, instantly crashing her lips against his. She was surprised to find his lips were as soft as she remembered, providing a nice contrast to her cracked and dry ones. Her fingers tangled in his hair while his hands traced along her curves before moving up and down her back. Her tongue slipped into his mouth, and she let out a moan as electrifying tingles went from her head to her toes.

She drank him in desperately, trying to get reacquainted with every inch of his lips, every part of him she missed so deeply while he was away. Moving from his lips to peppering his face with kisses Jay started to squirm underneath her. Then her lips dipped just below his jaw and she started kissing, licking, nibbling, and sucking. It was his sweet spot and she knew it as a cross between a sigh and a groan escaped his mouth.

What she wasn't expecting was him bucking his hips just right, setting her body aflame. Her burning desire skyrocketed and she was ready to go here and now.

"I need you," she breathed, voice light and airy, "I need you right now." She clawed at his gi, attempting to find the ties to make it go away.

"Woah there Tiger," he said, taking her hands into his.

She looked into his eyes, begging him. "Jay please."

"Nya we're in the middle of the street." He did that nervous chuckle that was so cute she might explode if she didn't get her hands on him now.

"I don't care."

"They might." Jay nodded his head to where the others were standing, backs facing the pda couple.

Nya shrugged. "You've been gone for so long... I can't wait one second longer." Her hands clenched his shirt tight, afraid that he might disappear at any second.

He smiled. "I missed you too."

She pressed her forehead against his. "Like you wouldn't believe." She started tugging at his collar again.

"Can I at least take a shower first?"

"God yes."
