18 : Hepatitis

It was already five thirty in the afternoon when Luke and his team packed up. I have to make an official interview with the Governor before we head back to Manila tonight. Pero hindi ko alam kung papaano ko gagawin iyung interview na hindi na naman iba ang pag-uusapan namin.

" Can I have an interview with the governor after this?" Magalang kong tanong kay ma'am Esther habang tinutulungan ko siyang magbuhat ng ibang boxes na wala ng laman.

" Yeah sure. Sasabihan ko lang muna si Governor para aware siya sa gagawing interview. Or you can approach the governor, I'm sure he will do the interview" Literal akong napalunok sa sinabi niya

It was just a second gaze I did to Luke but I didn't expect to see him looking at me. Again.

A feeling of complete attraction enveloped my inner system. Something that have been dormant but still presently active for years. Something contradictory but analogous.

It was past six in the evening when everything has been settled and everybody is good to travel back to Manila. But still, my reason for coming here aside from helping haven't been finished yet. And the hardest part of doing my job is being involved with the man I used to be with. The man who have been successful in his own career. The leader of the free world.

If I won't swallow my inhibitions and what ifs, I won't have anything to write. I can't just write what I think he thinks. I have to write on something that comes directly from his own point of view because that's my job.

I tried my luck and approached him. Napansin kong dala niya iyung kotse niya. I had Henry standby for the formal interview incase we start already.

" Uhm Sir Governor" I addressed him.

He looked at me.

" May I have an interview view with you Sir. For Expressions" Magalang kong tanong. He nodded. Tumingin siya sa driver niya.

" Mauna na po kayo manong. Susunod po kami" He told his driver then gazed back at me. Sinenyasan ko si Henry na kuhanan kami ng maayos na anggulo para sa interview.

Sanay na akong mag-interview pero sa pagkakataong ito ay hindi ko alam kung bakit kinakabahan ako.

I started formaly with the interview. Questions regarding the typhoon and his ways of helping was all that I've asked. I sticked to whatever I planned to ask him. Maayos naman niya itong sinagot.

With all the details that I needed, I formaly ended the interview. Nagpasalamat ako sa gobernador.

Nag-ayos na din si Henry para makabalik na din kami sa Manila nang magsalita si Luke sa likuran ko.

" We cannot go back yet to Manila. May bagong landslide sa daan pabalik. A clearing is still undergoing. We need to stay for the night." He said.

Ang problema ay wala naman kaming titirhan ni Henry. I am not aware of any transient apartments here.

" There's too much rooms reserved for my team. I will provide" He muttered. Tumango ako. Our safety is all that matters. Tama si Luke, hindi pa kami puwedeng bumiyahe gayong may landslides pa.

We left the place after bading goodbye to the people. Nagpasalamat ang mga tao kay Luke at sa aming lahat bago kami tuluyang umalis ng lugar na iyon. We headed straight to the place where we will spend the night. Ang akala ko ay hindi ko na makikita si Luke pagkatapos ngunit nagkamali ako. After parking, he came out of his car and approached us.

" You can join the rest of my team. Ituturo nila kung saan kayo matutulog ngayong gabi. I will take care of Aviona" He just said then took my luggage from Henry. Nakakunot noong napatingin sa akin si Henry. He might have a lot of questions but have chosen not to speak up.

Ma'am Esther has been silently observing Luke but said nothing. Pati ang ibang mga kasamahan niya.

" Governor-" I was stopped by his words.

" Everybody, thank you for today. Magpahinga na tayong lahat dahil maaga tayong babalik ng Manila bukas" He had spoken with authority. Completely ignoring what I am supposed to say.

Napansin kong sa left wing ang punta nilang lahat. Kami naman ni Luke ay sa right.

" Governor. Puwede namang kay ma'am Esther nalang ako makitulog" Apila ko.

" We have to talk Avi. Don't fight me on this please" He said then opened the room.

Napalunok ako ng wala sa oras.
