Toni's POV
My dad and Mrs. Blossom were still in the same room.
"Hey, girls. You are just on time. Toni, you should definitely try this rose tea." Mrs. Blossom said while handing me a cup full of hot, pleasant smelling beverage. "How was the walk? Did you enjoy it?" She was nice to me, but I felt some kind of pressure between her and Cheryl. I don't think she was this nice to her daughter.
"Yes, Mrs. Blossom it was wonderful. Your field roses smell amazing." I said while seating down and taking a big sip of my tea. Mrs. Blossom politely nodded. My dad looked so happy. I knew I was doing a right thing and I was ready for it if I was going to see him like this. Our parents had a long conversation about pretty much everything. I felt so comfortable. I wanted this moment to last forever. The fireplace was making it's usual noises making the moment more special. While my dad was holding my hand I realized that I wasn't going to see him for 2 months. That freaked me out and I felt like I already missed him. He was going to leave in an hour or so. I hugged him and tried to smell his cologne as much as could. I noticed Cheryl looking at us as if we were doing something abnormal. I didn't pay much attention to that because I was busy trying to remember everything about my dad. After some time of being in his arms he said that his car had arrived so he is supposed to leave. He thanked Mrs. Blossom and Cheryl, gave me a tight hug, kissed my forehead and left me alone with the Blossoms.
"Cheryl, please show Toni her room. Oh and do not forget about tomorrow's excursion." Mrs. Blossom said when my dad's car drove away. She continued talking but this time it was addressed to me. "Mr. Davis carried your baggage to your room so don't worry about it. Cheryl will show you your room. I'm sure you'd like to get some rest." Mrs. Blossom had an oily smile on her face. Everything this woman did looked fake. I felt bad for Cheryl. How could she handle this women?!. As I was thinking about that Cheryl looked at me with 'come after me' facial expression. We got up the stairs and she took me to my room. The only rooms I've seen in this house were dinning room and living room. This house was pretty gothic. With old tableware, candles, paintings, family portraits. Everything was in dark tones, mainly red. I could quickly understand that red was their signature color. Cheryl opened the door to one room and broke the silence.
"This is your room. Mine is right in front of yours. Do not enter without knocking. Preferably do not enter at all." Cheryl said while opening the door to her room. The only thing I could see in the room was a big red teddy bear. "Be ready by 10. Toodles!" Cheryl added and disappeared behind her bedroom door. There was something I liked about this girl but to be honest her attitude was horrible.
My room was comfortable wood paneled. It was large, well furnished, with a wardrobe, dressing table, sofa, and my bed, a fine wide bed covered with a red silken counterpane. It wasn't surprising to see the room in dark red and black tones. However I was too upset and tired to keep observing the room. I decided to unpack my bags. After organizing my wardrobe I opened a book because only reading could make me calmer. I was halfway through 4th page when I heard Mrs. Blossoms angry whisper from Cheryl's room. I could hear a few insults such as selfish little liar, family disappointment, heartless and a few more. Cheryl tried to resist and the next thing I heard was a loud slap. Mrs. Blossom got out of Cheryl's room leaving her daughter alone. That was when I understood why Cheryl acts this way. Maybe that's her protection layer? The only thing I knew for sure was that I can't just leave Cheryl alone in this condition. I waited a few minutes because I was sure she would destroy me if I saw her crying. I tried to move as quiet as possible. I didn't want to wake up nana Rose or Mrs. Blossom. I made it to her room on tippy-toes and knocked the door.
"Yes?" Cheryl's voice was quavering. I could feel that I'm going to have hard time explaining why am I here. Anyway I opened the door and saw Cheryl's long red hair. She was facing the window. Cheryl didn't want me to see her face but she forgot about her reflection. Her window self quickly cleaned up the tears and turned to me. I could see the red mark of her mothers hand on her cheek. The silence didn't last long because Cheryl asked "Why are you here? Do you need something?" She tried to make her voice sound like usual.
"Umm.., I'm fine. I just wanted to check on you. Cheryl, are you okay?" I tried to make my voice sound as comforting as possible.
"Well, you have probably heard everything so that's a stupid question to ask. Anyways thanks for your concern but seriously you don't have to care about me. I'll show you the town tomorrow and that's all. We don't have to be friends." Cheryl said getting back into her usual privileged mean bitch role.
"You don't have to make that excursion for me. I don't need it. I better go see 'Southside scum' as you like to say." Cheryl's personality was really difficult. She was mean for no reason. I just wanted her to know that I'm not one of the kids she can step on and remain unpunished. I needed to fight her back. Yeah, her personality was difficult but so was mine. I knew how to dominate and I was going to fight her back every single time.
"Perfect, I'll text Veronica then. She was begging me to go for a walk with her tomorrow." She said in a high pinched voice. "If you don't have something to say you are free to go." She added while spreading coconut oil on her hands.
"Bye, Felicia." I said referring to 'Friday' movie. I got back into my room. I was way too tired to think about anything so I just fell asleep.
Next morning
I woke up at 8. I didn't want to get up so I stayed in my bed for a few more minutes. After getting ready I went downstairs. Mrs. Blossom was setting the table and Cheryl was helping nana Rose with her tea. As soon as Mrs. Blossom saw me she exclaimed.
"Good morning, sweetheart! How did you sleep?" She said with a wide smile. "Girls, come eat your breakfast. You still remember about your little sightseeing, right?" Me and Cheryl looked at each other. None of us wanted to resist Mrs. Blossom so we were supposed to spend the day together. TBH I would like to spend more time with Cheryl. Sooner or later we were going to be friends. At the end we live with each other there is no choice.
"Yes, Mrs. Blossom I got a good sleep. I am excited about seeing Riverdale after so many years."
"That's good, and please call me Penelope." Mrs. Blossom said while spreading butter on her toast. The table was full of different treats. I ate a few slices of bread with some jam and a runny egg. After we finished our breakfast me and Cheryl got up to our rooms and got ready. We met at the hallway. She wore black leather shorts with red off shoulder crop top. This outfit looked amazing on her. She talked to me as soon as she saw my eyes on her.
"Veronica is here. Do you want us to be late?"
"I'm ready." We got out of the house.
A black cabriolet passed the gates. The car was still too far but I guess that was Veronica. The only thing I knew about her was that she is Cheryl's best friend. The car was close enough to see the driver. She was a beautiful brunette. There was a slight smile on her face. She stopped near us.
"Ladies, take your seats." Veronica said with a friendly smile on her face. She was really nice and I was looking forward to knowing her better.
