The next morning, I woke up late, as usual, and checked my phone and realized that it was already twelve. Six more hours until my date with Luke.
The whole day I kept looking forward to the next hour, because every hour that passed, was one less hour until I got to see Luke.
At about four, I decided to start to get ready. I gathered all my makeup and grabbed my iPhone and listened to 5sos songs (obviously), while doing my makeup in front of my dirty bedroom mirror. I straightened my hair, and pulled back a piece from the front with a bobby pin.
I sprinted downstairs to get all my shopping bags from the day before. I put on my pink and white floral dress that went down to a little bit above my knees, a gold owl necklace, and my dirty white vans. Once I was ready, I got in my white BMW, and drove to the Grove.
By the time I pulled up, it was exactly six. I started to walk to where Luke told me to meet him - by the ice cream stand. I spotted a nearby bench, and sat there and scrolled through my Twitter feed while I waited for Luke to show up.
As each minute that passed, I began to think that Luke forgot about me, or just changed his mind and realized I wasn't what he wanted. I felt so stupid for even believing for a second that he would really like such an average fan like me. After an hour at this realization, I stood up from the bench, about to walk back to my car, when I saw a blonde haired, blue eyes, and six foot tall silhouette running towards me at full speed. I smiled slightly, and my heart filled with hope.
Once Luke finally reached me, he was out of breath and said,
"I'm. So. Sorry. I'm. So. Late. So. Sorry," while panting out the cold Los Angeles night air.
I laughed at his exhaustion and replied,
"It's okay, Luke. Did you run here or something?"
"Yeah, kind of. I parked my car far away and while I was walking I uh.. kinda got mobbed by a bunch of screaming teenage girls." he told me, once he had finally caught his breath.
I laughed at him and he smiled at me.
"You have such a cute laugh, Emma." I blushed, and he giggled.
"Thank you. You look amazing by the way." I said with a slight laugh, at his sweaty, messy hair.
"Would your definition of amazing be sweaty and out of breath?"
"Well, you can't really not look amazing, Luke."
"Neither can you. But gosh Emma, stop flirting with me and let's go do something already!" He said, and extended his hand towards me.
I laughed, and took his hand. Once his big, cold hand was on mine, everything seemed to be perfect. We walked toward the ice cream stand, and he ordered two cookies and cream ice cream cones, while he claimed that no other ice cream flavor would ever be better than cookies and cream. I debated that chocolate was definitely better, but he (and the ice cream he bought me), ended up convincing me that he was right.
He seemed to have planned out the whole night beforehand, because right after we went somewhere, he immediately knew exactly where he would take me next. After the ice cream stand, he took me to the Apple Store, and we took pictures together on the computers on photo booth.
"Where are we going now?" I asked Luke with a smile, once we left the Apple Store.
He laughed and replied "I'm not telling yoouuu!" He was skipping in front of me like a little kid.
I laughed and said, "Okay, but at least stop skipping so fast"
"What? Can you not handle my awesome skipping skills? Are you jealous?" he replied while looking back at me with a smile.
I accepted his unofficial challenge, and started skipping beside him, the cold night air blowing in my face and short blonde hair. He laughed and shouted,
"See? Now we both look like idiots!"
He finally stopped me once we reached Dylan's Candy Bar. Watching Luke in the candy store, was identical to watching a five year old in a candy store, which was very entertaining and hilarious to experience.
He grabbed the two biggest bags the store offered, and gave one to me.
"Luke, how much candy do you expect me to eat tonight?" I said while laughing.
"Too much." he replied with a cute little smirk.
He went around the store, putting every single type of candy in his plastic bag, and I followed. Once we left the shop, it was already eleven o' clock.
"Hey, I would hate to be the one to put an end to this amazing night, but my curfew is midnight, and I live kinda far away. Maybe we can do this again?" I say to him.
He made a funny and completely adorable pouty face and said,
"Yeah, we should. Tonight has been so fun, Emma, I loved spending every second of it with you."
"Me too. When should we see each other again?"
"I'll surprise you. Come on babe, I'll walk you to your car."
As we walked to the car, Luke stopped walking for a second, and I turned around and asked him what was wrong.
"Oh crap. I hear the fans from earlier. Umm... run." he said to me.
While our hands were still locked together, we ran as fast as we could, while laughing, to my car.
"I think we lost them." I pointed out the obvious.
"The thought of getting mobbed again scared the crap out of me, but I must admit, that was really fun." He said with a big laugh.
We said our goodbyes, and he walked in the opposite direction of where my car was, in order to get to his. About ten seconds after he walked away from me, I could still see his figure as he turned around and waved goodbye one last time to me. I waved back through my car window, and he smiled and turned back around.-----------------
