The hallway was dimly litted as night had already fallen. Everyone was asleep and USSR had just gotten home. How lonely and peaceful his home felt everytime he went home. No one to talk to him after he had talked all morning and shouting orders to soldiers.

"Good night, Mr. Soviet."

USSR nearly jumped by the sudden voice and turned around.

"O-oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," Germany apologized. USSR regained his posture and sighed. "No, it's not your fault. Why are you awake?" USSR asked. "I had trouble sleeping," Germany answered simply. "Is Russia making you uncomfortable?" USSR questioned.  "No, no. Sometimes I have nightmares. I don't want to disturb Russia while he's sleeping," Germany replied. "What a caring fiancee," USSR chuckled.

"Would you like some tea? I can make some," Germany offered. "Yes, that would be nice. I'll be waiting in my office. It's in the end of the hall," USSR said and left Germany in the hallway.

USSR waited at his desk for Germany. He had already organized some paperwork and such. A cup of tea would be very nice. Or maybe even coffee?

There was a soft knock on the door and USSR allowed whoever knocked to enter. Slowly the door opened and Germany entered. He held a tray with a teapot, 2 teacups, a teaspoon and a cup of sugar cubes. He managed to push the door close and placed the tray on USSR's desk. He gently poured tea to both the teacups.

"Would you like some sugar?" Germany asked. USSR nodded and raised a single finger. Germany nodded in return and placed a single cube of sugar to the teacup. He gently stir the tea with the teaspoon and placed it back to the tray when the sugar dissolved.

"You're not going to use any sugar?" USSR asked as he took his cup gently. "I never liked sweets," Germany replied as he took his cup. "Yet, you'd make a sweet wife for my son," USSR stated. Germany smiled at the compliment and carefully sipped his tea. "How have you been enjoying your stay so far?" USSR asked. "Very well. Your sons and daughters have been wonderful company. I'm glad to be part of this family soon," Germany replied.

"Has my son been treating you well? I heard you both went on a date?" USSR asked. "Yes, he is. He took me to a lot of nice places when we went out," Germany answered. USSR nodded and sipped from his cup. "Mr. Soviet?" Germany called out and in response USSR hummed. "Why are you rarely here with the rest of your family? I'm sure they miss you very much," Germany asked.

USSR sighed, "I'm sure you wouldn't understand but, I am a very busy man. I provide a lot for this family." Germany nodded and hung his head low. "And with a new addition to the family, I'm only troubling you more..." Germany commented. "Of course not. In fact, it's the opposite. With you marrying my son, it's stopping a meaningless war that I need to participate in. You will always be in our debt, even as family," USSR stated.

"The same as Russia, nein?" Germany asked. "...What?" Germany placed his cup down. "Russia... I don't think he's very happy with the marriage. But he's very willing to do so for his family. I think the one who is in your debt should be him," Germany stated.

"No, that's not what I was asking about. You know German?" USSR asked. "Yes, why?" Germany replied. USSR scowled which made Germany flinch. "German. Such a disgusting language," USSR commented. "Excuse me?" Germany said but was ignored as USSR continued.

"Third Reich, that Bastard. Wasting such good land for his stupid beliefs. Those pathetic souls that followed under his footsteps only to be crushed. What a sad fool he was," USSR chuckled.

"I'm sorry, I don't think that's how you should be talking about someone who passed," Germany stated with a small hint of anger. "What do you know, Lyamora? You were probably kept in America's house, away from all the deaths that asshole had created," USSR said. "Do not call him an asshole," Germany said sternly.

"What?" USSR questioned as he placed his cup down. "Lyamora, if I'm not wrong, it seems to me you are quiet offended?" USSR said as he straightened his posture. "Yes, of course I am. I can't stand when people talk about the unfortunate like that," Germany stated.

"The unfortunate? Trust me, he gladly died with his own hands," USSR reassured. "No he did not. Can't you imagine if you were in his shoes. In the peak of defeat but with pride so strong you couldn't bare let your enemies get to you first," Germany said. USSR stood from his chair and looked down at Germany. "What would you know? Were you even there? Did you even see what disgusting actions he had done? Are you taking his death personally?" USSR questioned sternly as he glared at Germany.

Germany felt as if he had made a grave mistake. He shouldn't have lost his cool like that. "No, I... I'm sorry, Mr. Soviet..." Germany apologized. "You're right, I have never seen him nor what he had done with my bare eyes. And because of that I may have ignored the perspectives of other's who were greatly affected..." Germany said as he looked down.

"...Go back to sleep, Lyamora," USSR ordered and sat back to his seat. Germany nodded and stood up. As he was about to take the tray, USSR spoke up, "Leave it there. I would like to enjoy some tea for myself," USSR informed. Germany nodded again and went for the door. "Good night, Mr. Soviet," Germany said as he opened the door. "To you as well, Lyamora," USSR replied.

Germany quietly closed the door and the room was silent. USSR had a lot in his mind. Firstly as to why Germany was personally defending the Third Reich despite how horrid of a man he was. It made him grow curious.

He needed to know more.
