Normal POV~
"You're... You're okay..." Atem spoke after a while of silence, the ball of light hovering over his hand brightening.
"I'm so glad, I thought you would-"
"Y-You don't mean that," Yami murmured with his gaze cast to the ground. The light flickered as Atem stopped walking towards him.
"What? Of course, I do?" The prince tried to reassure. Yami growled and roughly pushed Yugi's sword away, the sharp blade cutting two gashes on his fingertips.
"Yami! Your fingers!" Atem exclaimed with his brow furrowed, the prince watched the dark red blood coat his beloved's pale fingertips.
"I don't care about my fucking fingers! Why should you?! You lied to me!" Yami shouted angrily with clenched fists, the pressure upon the cuts stung him a lot, but at the moment, he could care less about physical pain.
"Oh, so that's what this is all about," The older boy murmured in realization. Upon hearing that response, Yami coldly glared at him.
"Of course, it is! What did you expect? A happy encounter without me being mad at you?"
"I didn't want to lie to you about that, okay? For that, I'm sorry!"
"That's all you have to say, that you're sorry? Sorry isn't going to cut it, Atem! It... It just..." Yami hesitated through the last bit of the sentence, his fists turned a snow-white color from how hard he was clenching them and a frustrated tear slid down his cheek.
"It just won't!" He finished. Their bickering didn't end there, the words that came out of their mouths filled the air and thickened the atmosphere. Yugi and Heba awkwardly stood there, unsure of what to do in this situation. Finally, Yugi decided to do something and walked to Heba.
"Hey, my-"
"Wow, you're prettier up close," Heba blurted out unconsciously, Yugi's eyes widened in shock and a blush covered his cheeks.
"Oh! My apologies, did I say that aloud?" The taller male rubbed his neck shyly with an apologetic smile.
"Did you just- You know what, forget about it. I don't know what happened between those two, but we have to stop them. The war is still a thing and we can't afford to waste time. Are you with me?"
"Yeah, of course," They shared a small nod then began walking back to the couple.
"I just don't understand why you never told me!" They heard Yami declare loudly.
"I couldn't or you wouldn't have trusted me at all! Not to mention stay with me!"
"Maybe not at the beginning, but if you were honest when we were friends I would've stayed with you! Were you even honest with most of the things that you said? How do I know you're not lying to my face once again? How do I know whatever we had going on was real?" His crimson-amethyst eyes reflected hurt, despair, confusion, and anger all at once. Atem couldn't tell which emotion Yami was showing most.
"Yami..." Atem took some cautious steps forward and gently grabbed his hands. Heba and Yugi stopped walking.
"I never lied to you, not after that. I didn't want to lie to you after that, and I never did. What we have going on, it's all real, I do harbor feelings for you," Yami's eyes softened and he gently squeezed Atem's hands, not caring about his injury.
"I love you... I need you to tell me that... Tell me you love me..." Atem paused for a moment after hearing that. Why was he nervous all of the sudden? He's said it so many times in his head, what difference would it make saying it out loud?
