I wake up, my eyes wet with tears. I remember why and start crying all over again.
I put on my best dress, a royal blue silk one with felt flowers going up the hem on one side, and do my hair in an elegant up do. I then realize it's all wrong.
One of the good things about being small and not hitting puberty until you're 16 is that you can pass as a younger age. I put on a dress from my lower school graduation and do my hair in French braided pigtails. I look like I'm seven. PERFECT!!
At the execution site, I see a guillotine atop a 50 foot tall stage and Elisa Wollopp powdering her ugly fat face. I didn't like her much before but now the sight of her is sickening. She sees us and motions for us to come up.
"Hello hello!" She says in that posh accent "so Justin here is the one getting executed huh?" She looks up and down at him, disgusted. "Would any of you guys like to say a few words to the audience?" I completely forgot about that. For miles in all directions people line up to see the executions. "I would!" I say, raising my hand and making my voice sound just a little higher pitched than normal. "Okay then!" Elisa says, sickeningly happy.
I go up to the podium with the microphone, Justin standing handcuffed between two guards next to the guillotine. "My big brother taught me lots of stuff. He taught me how to read, count, sing, but most importantly, he taught me how to be myself." I want to gag I'm lying so much. Frankly, I taught him how to read and count. I continue with something true, "he told me to wear rainbow tights to school the day after I got made fun of for wearing bright clothes. He told me that I should sing louder than all the other kids when the girls made fun of me for being a bad singer in music class." I can barely squeak out one more sentence before I curl up in a puddle of tears. "i love him." I run towards the guards, ripping at them, trying to get them to let go of him, but my mom grabs me and holds me.
I didn't notice until now that Eliza had left. She goes up to the microphone and tries to calm down the audience, who are in a frenzy. "Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of the industry training handbook, Justin Zerony will not be executed as he was still in training. If you don't recall, on page 1,234 paragraph c-6 it states,'students have not finished training until they successfully complete a week of the job' it was Justin's second day, therefore he is still a trainee. You are free to go."
I give Justin a hug and don't let go until we're home. I got my brother back.
