Ron leaned against the wall, his feet hanging limply from the ledge of the astronomy tower. He now knew the information, but what was he going to do with it? Nothing actually, he just wanted to know. Of course, he didn't mean what he had said. He was just scared.
When he had seen the mark, all he could think of was his Aunt Marleen. She had been mated to a vampire named Rick. They seemed so happy. She would gush about how much of a gentleman he was. How he never took blood without permission and tended to her wounds. They believed her seeing as how she showed no signs of mistreatment. Hell, the only proof you could see for her being mated to a vampire was a few faint scars.
Eventually, Marleen had stopped coming around so much. He was around seven when she began to act strange. She would have more bandages than usual and would seem panicked and frantic. They just thought she was going through stress as she had just moved.
It was when he was nine that it happened. He remembered that all his other siblings were at school or off in the world. Only he and Ginny were at home with his mother. Marleen hadn't come to see them in weeks even though she had scheduled lunch with Molly. Molly decided to go to her house to see if there was something wrong. Naturally, she brought Ron and Ginny since Arthur was at work.
When they arrived, Molly knocked on the door with a patient smile. After a while, her smile faltered as she knocked again. Again, there was no response. Molly decided after a few minutes to investigate. Worst casinario, they were out and she had to wait for them to come home.
She used her wand to open the locked door, opening it with a creak. She walked in the house, her wand still drawn as her two children walked in behind. A strong smell hit her nose, causing her to almost vomit. It reeked of death. She walked down the hall to the archway that led to the living room. A gasp slipped from her lips as she brought an unsteady hand to her mouth.
There laid Marleen, ripped to shreds in a pool of her blood. Her jugular had been ripped out, a look of fear still on her face. Dried tear tracks on her face, leading from her dull, lifeless green eyes. Her red hair was matted with old blood, some having been pulled out in places.
Her lavender dress was torn and stained with blood. Her arms had been torn apart by teeth. Blood was splatter all over her. It was also plastered across the walls.
On the other side was Rick. He was leaned against the wall, slightly hunched over. Blood trailed from his mouth, covering most of his face. His hands were also layered with dry blood. His long-dead pale fingers gripped limply to the spear he seemed to have driven through his heart.
A note had been scribbled on the wall a foot or two from him. The blood was now crusted on the wall, 'I'm sorry.'
Once Molly realized what she was seeing, she frantically began to try and cover her children's eyes. But, Ron will never forget. He will never forget the things he saw that day.
"Hey, you alright?" Ron turned to the voice in confusion.
There stood Blaise Zabini, a Slytherin, dressed in a hoodie and ripped skinny jeans. A Slytherin of all people was worried about him. Ron simply turned back around with a frown.
"Just go away. I'm fine," Ron's voice was quiet, although Blaise seemed to have heard it.
"If you're fine, why are you crying?" Blaise's voice began to come closer, "You can tell me what's wrong, I won't mind."
"Just like you won't mind telling the whole school about it. I don't need help from a Slytherin of all people," Ron whispered, a hand reaching up to feel wetness on his cheeks. A shiver running down his spine from the cool early autumn air. He, like an idiot, wore only a t-shirt.
