Noah Silas Anderson

Chapter Two: "Friends with not a lot of benefits"

"-Terrance, stop lying to these boys. You did not say that," Kenya laughed at her husband.

Terrance came down from his laughter and sucked his teeth at his wife. "Woman, stop embarrassing me in front of my company. Go get me some tea," he demanded.

I went "oop" and waited for Mrs.Walker's reaction. She stood in place with a sassy facial expression and waited for her husband to correct himself.

"Please?" Terrance added, flashing a bright gap-toothed smile.

"That's what I thought," Kenya snarled and took his glass to the kitchen.

"Noah, you want anything," she asked me kindly.

"No, thanks," I replied with a smile.

Terrance watched as she walked away and I just wiped the crumbs from my mouth.

Kenya came back and handed the full glass to Terrance.

They're this middle aged black couple. I've worked with Terrance for years, he always has me and my bro over for dinner and/or drinks.
Him and Kenya have been together since high school, and they have two daughters together: Jada, 3, and Monae, 6. I treat them like little sisters, but they call me Uncle, so rightfully I'm Uncle Noah. We watched them grow up, Gael - my best friend (bro) - and I.

"Where's Gael," asked Kenya who sat on Terrance's lap as he finished his drink.

I yawned and threw up my hands, unsure. "Probably getting his dick sucked, you know him," I answered as best I could. That's Gael for you.

All of a sudden, I was pelted with pillows from the back.

"I-" I laughed it off.

I turned only to see Jada and Monae plotting against me. I snatched the pillows and chased them to their bedroom where I shut them in the room and cut the lights off.

"Don't scare them too much, Noah!" Kenya worried, laughing.

"Don't worry, I won't," I yelled back, holding the doorknob so they couldn't escape.

Then my phone vibrated in my pocket. It was two texts from this alt girl, Sky.

I left the key under the mat

you better come over before midnight this time

I sucked my teeth and replied telling her I'd be over whenever I got there.

The girls ran out of the room and started "shooting" me with their finger guns so I used my imagination and played dead.

"Hey, hey," Kenya nagged, "no guns, remember?" Her eyes immediately shot to her husband who she blamed for their behavior.

I kept my eyes closed and stuck my tongue out to show that I was dead. Err, knocked out, I should say.

"It's just a freeze ray," Monae whined. Jada played along. I couldn't help but break character and laugh.
