Chapter 24: "The first night but the third time"
It was nice seeing Cassie again and actually having a normal conversation with Gael.
I don't know what I expected - Gael and Cassie to be hooked up while Noah and I also played happy couple in the corner?
Okay, she's not bad and I actually really like Cassie. I know, I sound jealous, but I'm not. It was just weird. Gael was the one who's jealous, that's the worst part, because he wasn't paying attention to me either!
It's stupid, maybe I'm just used to being the center of the universe. My phone buzzed in the pocket of my jacket and I saw that it was Will texting again.
Standing outside of my door, I banged my head on it and groaned as I relented to check the message.
It read:
I know you're probably rolling your eyes at my name on your screen again but do you remember us at homecoming freshman year of college, when we almost got trampled by the crowd trying to see the performance!!! LOL
A smile found it's way to my full lips and I laughed a little out loud.
Just as I was about to reply, I felt someone hug me from the back.
"Hey, girl," he said in a humorous tone.
"Noah, get off of me," I gritted, "for real."
"Why don't we finish what we started on the cruise-"
"No, you horndog, go home!" I finally unlocked my door and opened it just far enough for me to step inside. However, he pushed it open and walked in.
"Annoying," I mumbled under my breath.
I flipped the lights on and went straight to my bathroom. Walking fast through the room, I threw my jacket on the bed and then went to wash my hands and face.
As I patted my face dry, Noah came and stood in the doorway, looking at me like he was waiting for me to explain something."What?!" I roared, annoyed.
"What did you say in the parking lot? Something about... honesty? Seriously, Brooks, this friendship is never gonna work if you don't-"
"Bite me."
He tossed his head back. "What I do?"
"Noah, you were flirting with Cassie right in front of Gael," I exclaimed, deflecting.
"No I wasn't. And you mean right in front of you?"
My top lip curled. "I don't care about you enough to be jealous. All I'm saying is, it didn't look good."
He let me get past him so I walked straight back into my bedroom and found some nightclothes to throw on.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I plan on spending the night alone binge watching Wentworth on Netflix," I grumbled. When I gathered the clothes and toiletries, I spun right into Noah's chest.
Frustrated, I threw my arms up and stormed to the bathroom, locking myself inside. As I removed my clothes I started running the hot water in shower.
"You think she's pretty?" I asked him behind the door. Like, how could he do that to his best friend? I don't find Gael attractive, not that it matters.
"She's okay, but you can't get mad at that."
"Calm down, I wasn't going to; she's cute," I spoke plainly. "Listen, I don't like what I saw - I'm not jealous - but it was just weird."
