CH 7

PRESENT

I stumbled into what felt like a clearing. That's because the buildings in this area were demolished, the dust just barely letting things be visible. The flickering of the glowing reptile in the distance was now noticeable, as was the creature itself. It was large, standing on two legs, like an enormous alligator that could hold itself upright. It let out a large growl and stomped, swinging a large clawed hand through the air, swiping at another helicopter.

The monster was nearly unexplainable, covered in spikes and scales. It was black in the night, lit up by purple and pink hues. Very few raizon monsters actually glowed with this sort of bioluminescence. The thing was slow, and it looked fairly injured already. Another look showed that it was missing one of its arms, many of its spikes broken as well. So the missiles had been doing something.

My breath caught in my throat as I saw a flash of white through the air before a loud boom could be heard, but no flash. The ginormous monster roared out in its loud voice, forcing me to choke. There was a loud ringing in my ears as the monster turned to me with glowing red eyes. I could feel the thing's growling that shook the ground as it took a step, turning to completely face me. Its attention made me cover my ears as I choked more. I, let out a strangled noise as I dropped to my knees, ripping at my ears. The sound was deafening.

I cried out through his choking, my entire body felt as though it was boiling. The monster roared out and stomped towards me, the bright flashes and squealing of the high tech light guns doing little to nothing to it. If powerful guns couldn't do much to this creature, then what could? I felt as though the two of us had made eye contact, and as soon as that realization hit, my eyes rolled back in my head. The pain was excruciating.

There was a loud whooshing sound- it was sharp and fast before another boom could be heard. The monster screeched out, stomping around. I was able to blink open my eyes to see the monster snapping its large toothy jaw and whipping around, attempting to catch something- but what? I saw that white blur again before the monster screeched out, suddenly covering its eye with its only arm. It shook the entire place more as it fell to the ground, roaring and screeching in a panic.

For some reason I also panicked, my heart picking up to painful speeds. "W- wait," I found myself saying, pushing myself up and stumbling towards the large creature. I picked up my pace to a surprising sprint that I didn't know I had in me. Perhaps it was this new-found adrenaline as all my pain was numbing away.

I managed to get to the area where the creature's head was. It seemed to be making loud sounds of pain. I was tearing up watching it. It screeched out as another boom hit it, this one ripping open a nice chunk in its back. I felt my own back bristle and burn. I flinched, crying out. Shocked, I looked around to see what it was that was attacking. "W- wait stop... stop it," I mumbled out, reaching out a bloody hand towards the large reptilian. Its giant red eye found my eyes and the monster started to push itself up off the ground, rumbling deep in its throat.

And just like that, it fell limp to the ground. A good size hole through its head. I never heard the boom as I screamed, ripping at my dirty black hair. I fell to the ground, spasming and screaming, an immense physical and mental pain wracking my body. I felt as though I was going to explode. I continued to cry out, not even noticing the white blur that landed with a soft thud in front of me.

A hand reached out to my shoulder and I flinched away at the cool touch. I was gasping out, unable to breathe, tears streaming down my face as I sobbed. My eyes soon met with whoever it was that was in front of me.

Red eyes stared back at me, tears spilling down the person's pale cheeks. They had waist-length white hair that was a mess but shined as though it was almost iridescent. A girl? "It hurts you too?" they said, not sounding male or female. But what they did sound was sad. They rubbed at their eyes, trying to clear their tears. "You feel it too?" they asked again, voice shaking.
