It all started with Fate. As usual. One of the many Fates in the Omniverse...

But, this Fate was different. Unlike most of all the others, she wasn't a straight out sadist. Or a misunderstood deity.

No, she was a fanfiction writer. She constructed her whole multiverse to act like one, after all. Skeletons were her thing. With her power over the FATE (wheeze) of her multiverse, she let romance bloom. Among literal clones of other skeletons.

Kustard.
AfterDeath.
And, for a short time, even Cream.

Until, a certain glitchy boi caught her eye. Error.

A while back, she made him the destroyer. After all, it was really hard to destroy AU's for Ink if she literally can't go in there physically. So, she just snatched the sans of some poor forgotten universe. Some Geno who was stuck in the Save Screen for so long that he literally slept all day. So, she placed him in the Anti-Void. The guy was suffering enough, might as well change him and make him forget all the stuff he went through to make him useful. She turned him into Error, and knew immediantly he was perfect for the role of a destroyer. So, that she gave him the role. She reformed him. But, she didn't want a cool destroyer, oh no. She found her perfect angst ship candidate. So, she made him unable to die. After all, depression was great for angst fanfictions. She connected his soul to the multiverse as well. You know, so that if Ink was to create an AU, he would feel a tiiiiny shock...okay, actually, more like plunging a knife in his soul. But more pain created more angst for him. She then gave Ink the ability to make copies of AUs.

Ink, being extremely curious and excited with this newfound ability that he SOMEHOW wasn't able to use earlier, went berserk with it. This obviously put Error through a lot of pain. Soon, the pain was so much his body acted on instinct. His heart hated it. His mind did. But his body didn't act on his accord.

Destroy them all.

Error started a destruction spree. This was obviously not a good first impression with the Star Sanses. He was attacked and beaten. And this process was repeated.

Over.
And over.
And over again.

Error started to accumulate scars. He didn't know healing magic. He usually just wrapped his injuries in his strings and then kept on going. This was even getting Dream and Blue concerned, but Ink told them not to question it.

After all, Ink was simply disgusted with Error's "murderous" behavior. Since Error destroyed so much, he thought Error actually enjoyed it. After all, actions speak louder than words, right?

But. That all changed when Error met him. Nightmare.

Nightmare sensed it in him. The screaming in his soul. The pleading for mercy. For him to not need to destroy anymore. After all, the souls on the ceiling did not help. They spoke to him. Told him cruel things. They yelled insults and death threats at him daily. But, Error thought he deserved it. After all, he killed them. They had been reduced to mere objects. An echo of the hatred and fear they felt towards him when he killed them.

Error just wanted this to all end.

Nightmare took Error under his wing-
err, tentacle, and helped him. He and the gang that he had built supported Error. Error got the first taste of companionship. He learned what it felt like to have a family. To have people who supported and cared for him.

Fate squealed internally. She knew who she was shipping with Error.

Then he accidentally attacked the original Underswap, kidnapping one of the Star Sanses out of panic when he regained control over his body.

Blue.

Blue was the first non-villain to learn about what Error had been going through. The horrible pain he felt whenever Ink creates. His body acting on it's own, without him being able to control it. The constant loop of torture, as he is forced to watch himself kill millions of innocent lives for a reason he didn't know yet.

Blue pitied him.

Blue tried his best to understand.

Blue became Error's first friend.

Then Error had to let him go. Ever since, Blue visited him whenever he could. Instead of attacking him, he became more of a "support character", healing Dream and Ink and missing his attacks on Error on purpose.

Thankfully nobody suspected anything. At least not yet.

But then, it all changed.
