[ ❝ 'till they don't ❞ ]
Y/n's eyes fluttered open to a soft, beige ceiling. She's seen this ceiling before. She was in the truck. She lifted up her head, looking out the window to see miles and miles of trees. Looking to her left, she saw Jacob driving. He had his glasses on, and he turned towards her, smiling as he saw his sister awake."Good afternoon, sleepyhead." Jacob rolled his eyes playfully.
"How long have I been asleep?" Y/n asked, sitting up straight.
"Since yesterday."
Flashbacks from the day before began to play in her mind, and her vision went blurry as her eyes teared up. "Where are we going?" Y/n sniffed, wiping the trail of water off of her face.
"I'm not sure yet, I checked around this area before I lost service, there should be a cabin somewhere where we can stay at for a while." Jacob trailed off, looking around. "Are you sure it's empty? What if we intrude on someone?" Y/n mumbled.
"Then I guess they're going to have to deal with it." Jacob retorted, making Y/n chuckle.
Y/n's laugh slowly died down, a question still lingering in her mind, "How far are we from Seoul?"
"We're near Busan, but far enough from it."
Y/n slowly nodded, turning around and opening the small window that connected to the cargo bed. She saw Youngjae asleep by one of the rests with a hoodie in place of a pillow, next to him was Chanhee, who was reading a book, resting his arm on Youngjae's thigh. Jisoo was scrolling through her phone, a portable charger sitting next to her. A student named Donghyun sat next to Jisoo with another student named Hangyeol. Y/n subconsciously counted 7 people including her and Jacob, which meant there were 4 in the car behind her, 11 people in total.
Jacob slowed the car down which made Y/n turn back towards the front windshield. Jacob turned a corner that lead down a dirt path, an open, broken fence at the entrance. He drove down the road, deep in the woods until he stopped in front of a spacious cabin.
"We're here." Jacob pulled the gear shift into park.
"No lights are on, if we're lucky, it'll be empty." Y/n said, unbuckling her seatbelt.
Y/n stepped out of the truck and walked towards the door, she reached for the knife in her backpack and held it tightly in her hand. Looking back, she saw two trucks parked by each other, the others taking their stuff out of the cargo beds. Y/n turned her attention back to the door she stood in front of and she turned the knob, opening the door.
A gust of stale air brushed her cheeks as she walked in, the floorboards creaking immensely. She walked into what seemed like a living room, a couch to her left sat in front of a fireplace, a fuzzy rug laid flat under a wooden coffee table. On both of her sides next to the windows were small shelves that had an array of small trinkets and souvenirs. There was a coat rack on her right that had dust covered winter coats, assuming the person who owned this house only came when it was cold. On the right side of the living room there was a hallway that she assumed led to multitude of rooms. She saw on the left side a series of stairs, which led to a second floor. A kitchen stared at her from across the cabin.
No lights were on, so Y/n assumed there was no one. Her shoulders relaxed and she walked in. Y/n didn't know how long the power would last, considering they weren't close to the city, the cabin must be running on a generator. She tried to flick the switch on in the living room, but the room stayed dark.
Y/n sighed and walked back to the front porch. The group was piling their belongings, almost emptying the cargo beds. Joonyoung walked up to Y/n, seeing her in dismay.
"Is anyone in there?" Joonyoung asked.
"No, but the generator is off, I'm going to find where it is so I can turn it back on." Y/n explained, walking down the stairs of the porch.
"Don't go too far."
Y/n shooed away the concern Joonyoung had and walked behind the house. She didn't see the generator right away, so she looked for electric cords that ran into the cabin. She saw a cord that wasn't dug into the ground and followed it. It was a few dozen meters from the cabin when she found the generator and propane tank. The tank looked to be about 1000 gallons, so she knocked on the tank until she heard the liquid, it wasn't the most efficient way to check how many gallons were left, but it got the job done. There was about 200 gallons left so it would be around 3 months before the generator stopped working.
Y/n sighed again, her luck is running out. They had to find a way out of this place before the electricity stops. She started the generator. She had to think logically, it's almost the end of October, so the generator would be enough to get her and the others through the winter. If they conserve enough energy that is.
Y/n hurried back to the cabin, her feet crinkling the dead leaves.

"She doesn't look intimidating, we can take her." A boy with jet black hair spoke as the mysterious girl ran towards the cabin.
"There's other people dumbass, if you were paying attention, there's about 11 of them." A tall boy who wore an olive green beanie retorted.
"Looks like we can't get anything from them, they barely have enough food to last them a week." Another boy with binoculars replied.
"We just have to get one of them alone, then we can trade, simple." A boy with a tan coat on said. "Let's go back to camp for now, I'm starving." A boy with a camouflage outfit whined.
"You're always hungry, dipshit." A blonde boy replied, rolling his brown eyes in annoyance.
The group of 6 tiptoed away, making zero sound as they disappeared into the thick foliage of the woods.
