You felt your cheeks warm at the bold declaration your best friend had made the day before she moved. Out of everything she could have done, she decided to "hint" at your interest towards your crush, Louis.

If it weren't obvious before, it was clearly evident now.

Pulling your cello after you to the school doors, you caught sight of the boy who happened to be stuck in your thoughts.

Louis.

He seemed to notice you as well, smiling and offering you a wave.

You lifted a free hand and returned the gesture.

At least things weren't awkward.

Only last week, you had a band concert, and ever since then, your feelings for Louis were growing and becoming more mixed.

- flashback -

You glanced over at Louis, admiring him from where you stood. Dressed up for the night, you couldn't help but think of how good he looked. It wasn't fair to your heart.

"You're staring," your best friend teased.

"I'm not," you protested.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm not sure if he's noticed, but I'm pretty sure it's pretty evident you like him."

"Is it?"

"Haha, just to me."

As the two of you continued to quietly chat waiting for time to pass until it was time for you to get on stage, you noticed Louis and his friends approaching to sit right next to where you were.

"You'll have a much better view here," one of Louis's friends said, making Louis take the seat right next to you.

"Hi, Louis," your best friend greeted.

"Oh, hey," he returned, "(Y/N), hi."

Several looks and words were exchanged, and soon you found yourself much closer to Louis than you expected.

- end of flashback

That evening due to the influence of friends had caused you to be closely pressed up against Louis. You weren't necessarily complaining, but you had been within the proximity of him where you could smell his intoxicating scent.

Being the kind person he was, Louis noticed the awkward position and you two had even held hands during the evening. The chance to spend time together with him and see his smile - oh gosh, his smile - felt so ethereal.

Since that night, your best friend took advantage of her departure by dropping hints about your feelings for Louis directly before outright declaring it to him.

Now, in honor of your best friend's leave, you had decided to take on the instrument she played - the cello. Which also happened to be the instrument that Louis played.

During the week, you had plenty of opportunities to talk to him, which was rather nice. Despite knowing you liked him, he didn't act differently. You couldn't help but notice the little moments like when he stared at you or showed up where you were.

Like that genuine smile, he had when he noticed you initially brought in your cello.

Like the moment he appeared next to you at the water fountain.

Or when he took the time to walk with you out of class.

Did he know the effect he had on you when he was around?

...probably not.

Heading into the school, you moved to drop off your cello before getting to class.

"Have you seen my key chain?"

Confronted Louis, you froze, looking up from your cello. Currently, in band class (the one you shared with him), you had been preparing to practice.

You thought about the key chain Louis was talking about. It was a fluffy little ball - you had seen him playing around with it throughout the day, it wasn't hard to miss. Seeing that he sat right behind you in class, you understood why he asked you, but you hadn't seen it lately.

"Sorry, no," you apologized.

"Alright..."

Louis wandered around class, in search of his key chain.

Amused, you smiled. Seeing him looking lost was kind of cute. Quietly giggling, unexpectedly, Louis happened to look at you just then.

"Did you take it?" he asked, return to your side.

You shook your head once more. Sadly, your giggles were still around and probably made you look guilty.

"(Y/N)..."

"I seriously haven't seen it!" you protested while laughing. "Check for yourself!"

Louis began to look around, checking under your jacket, and everything in your space. Frowning, he crossed his around.

"Hey, (Y/N), put your cello down."

You slowly did what he said, waiting to find out what he intended. Patting you down, Louis looked determined to find his key chain.

You froze, flustered. He was touching you. Your heart was going to explode if this continued. It was like being with you during the night of the concert again.

"You don't have it," he murmured.

"Are you looking for your key chain?" one of your classmates asked him. "It's right by your backpack."

"It is?" Louis echoed, confused. He wandered back to his seat as you tried to calm down your heart. "Oh."

You picked up your cello once more. The sound of your heartbeat was still pounding in your ears. Turning slightly, you stole a glance at Louis. This boy was going to be the death of you.

If so much could happen during the past two weeks, you were certain that the future would be just as eventful. If only things were so uncertain between the two of you... Either way, you were looking forward to spending more time with him.

After all, the relationship you did share with Louis was going to be a memorable and exciting one no matter how it turned out.
