The annual book sale was one of my favorite days of the year. The library always hosted it outside at the nearby park. The smell of nature and fresh books combined was my favorite smell. I would always buy at least six, to get me through the next two months. There were booths stacked with books, children running around, bumping into tables, and of course, my once a year crush, Louis. I only saw him a couple of times at the library or the book shops around town, and here at the book sale for the past few years.

He always looked thoughtful, kind. He seemed like a good guy and I was dying to meet him. Last year I almost approached him but chickened out at the last minute. We would catch each other's eye everyone so often, make eye contact then look away a second later.

I was in the romance section, buying a book. When I walked away I rammed into someone and fell back, dropping my new book on the grass. Oh great.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry I wasn't looking. Are you okay?" The man asked. I looked up and blushed when I saw who it was.

"Oh yea um, I'm okay thanks," I said, holding my head. I was definitely not okay. It felt like someone was pounding on my head nonstop. He helped me up and then let go, letting my stubble back and almost fall. He quickly placed his hand on my lower back to catch me.

"You are definitely not okay," he laughed. "You might have a concussion." He walked me over to a bench farther away from the sale and sat down next to me.

"I'm Louis by the way." He said.

"(y/n)." I smiled back. There was an awkward silence after that, I couldn't quite concentrate on how close he was sitting next to me because of the pounding but I knew it was closer than any other stranger would've dared to do.

"I don't know if this is me or the head injury but either way it's going to sound crazy. I feel like, I don't know we have a connection or something I mean we see each other a lot but we've never talked it's like, like-"

"Like the universe is pushing us together." He smiled. I looked at him and laughed.

"Yea. Crazy right?" He put his hand on top of mine.

"No. I feel it too." He said softly. I looked into his eyes and could see the kindness in him.

"So, maybe when you've recovered from your head injury, you could join me for dinner?" He asked. Even though I just confessed my feelings for him he still asked nervously. God was he cute.

"Like a date?" I asked playfully. He laughed.

"Yes exactly like a date." He said.

"I would love to."
