Today our bio teacher was taking us on a field trip to the zoo. Usually, a field trip would be fun and exciting, plus it gets you out of class. But today was one of the hottest days of the year, aka the worst day to go on a field trip.

Although, I guess I was a little excited. It was a field trip for the whole grade, meaning all my friends would be there, and on top of that, Louis.

Louis and I have a very complicated relationship. We flirt, a lot. But our friends are complete opposites so we never hang out, only talk to each other in passing.

Every day Louis comes up to my locker in between 2nd and 3rd period. Not gonna lie, it's the highlight of my day. On the on-field trip day though, he waited for me at my locker before school even started.

"Well well well look who finally decided to show up?" Louis grinned, leaning against my locker. I stopped in front of him and smiled, tilting my head to the side.

"School starts in 3 minutes Partridge let me put my bag away." I sighed playfully. He slid to the locker next to mine and let me open it. He stuck his lip out in an adorable pout.

"What?" I giggled.

"You never said hi to me." He said, still pouting. I laughed and shut my locker.

"Hi," I said, trying to cover my smile by biting my lip. His eyes darkened and he placed his hand under my chin, pulling my lip out from my teeth with his thumb.

"Careful." He said warningly, closing his eyes.

"Mm, or what?" I hummed, moving closer to him. He opened his eyes and smiled devilishly. Then the bell rang. He looked up at the clock on the wall across the hall and chuckled.

"Saved by the bell." He said, shoving his hands in his pockets and walking away. I blushed as he looked over his shoulder and winked at me, then he began walking away again. "You better get to class y/l/n! Don't wanna be late!" He called out. I rolled my eyes and walked to my first period, smiling like a complete idiot.

The zoo was packed with tourists. It took us 45 minutes just to get to the front of the line. Then it took another hour to get all 200 of us in. We wasted about half of our day getting into the park and taking role call. We missed our tour time so our teachers just let us wander around and told us to meet back up at lunch.

I visited the different animals with my friends, occasionally running into Louis and his friends. This time, we passed them by the gorillas and monkeys.

"Look what we have here, are you following me y/l/n?" Louis smirked, walking past me, and grabbing my hand.

"Mmm we got here first Partridge so if anyone's being followed, it's me," I said, giggling as he twirled me around.

"Oh, my bad my apologies m'lady." He said, bowing.

"God you're such a dork" I laughed, still holding his hand.

"Only for you." He said, kissing the top of my hand and winking. I blushed and looked down, smiling. He smirked, satisfied with how he made me feel, and straightened up, letting go of my hand.

"Why don't you have lunch with me today?" he asked, shoving his hands in his pockets, showing he was nervous.

Having lunch with Louis was big. Something I'd always dreamed of, and seeing him all nervous about it with his guard down? Super adorable.

"Louis Partridge, are you asking me out on a date?" I asked, moving closer to him. His smile widened and he licked his lips.

"What would you say if I was?" He questioned. I smiled and backed away, walking a little farther away. I turned around, not being able to control my smile. Then, looking behind my shoulder, him still waiting for an answer, I bit my lip.

"I'd say yes." I smiled. I watched his grin grow impossibly bigger and his confidence grew.

"Alright then!" He yelled as I walked away. "I'll see you at lunch!" He said. I put a thumbs up over my head, being too excited to form words.

Lunch came around and I sat with my friends while I waited for Louis.

"I can't believe this is happening!" I said excitedly.

"uh, we can. It's about time you two got together." y/f laughed.

"Oh come on, it wasn't that obvious was it?" I asked, biting my lip.

"Honey please, you guys flirt with each other more than anyone I've ever seen. Movies have less romantic tension than you two." y/of said.

"Yea, every time you look at each other I have to pray to the gods that you won't rip each other's clothes off at that moment." y/of laughed. My eyes widened and I scoffed at her.

"Shut up!" I said, looking around to make sure nobody heard.

"Sorry! It's just the truth." She shrugged.

"Oh shut up he's coming over!" y/f said. A few seconds later I felt a pair of strong hands on my shoulders.

"Hey, beautiful." He smiled sweetly.

"Hi" I smiled, looking up at him.

"Mind if I steal her ladies?" He asked my friends, who then proceeded to nods their heads in complete silence, acting like idiots. He chuckled and turned his attention back to me. "Ready?" He asked.

"Always," I said, not bothering to contain my smile anymore.

He took me to the tiger enclosure, arm wrapped safely around my shoulders. With Louis it was easy. There were no awkward moments, just me and him, enjoying each other's presence. We sat down across from each other and ordered food, tangling our feet together under the restaurant booth.

"So why'd it take you so long to ask me?" I said as his fingers played with mine, biting my lip. His eyes darkened but he was able to control himself and look away.

"I guess I was just waiting for the right time." He said. I rolled my eyes.

"Lies. There have been plenty of right times! I think you were scared." I said, playing with his fingers. He scoffed.

"Scared?" He asked. I nodded.

"Of rejection." I finished. This time he rolled his eyes.

"Fine okay, maybe I was a little scared."

"Well, lucky for you I liked you all along," I said, licking my lips. He looked at me with lust in his eyes.

"Lucky me." He whispered, lips moving closer to mine. Our bodies were leaning over the table towards each other, trying to reach each other across the table. Louis then rounded the table to sit next to me in the small booth and softly grabbed my face in his hands.

My eyes closed as his lips hit mine.

It was like the world dissolved around us. All the built-up tension from flirting for so long was pushing us closer together, strengthening our need for each other.

People were staring. Mothers were covering their child's eyes and kids were ew-ing. But we didn't care. Not one bit.

I tangled my finger in his hair, pushing our lips closer together as his tongue slipped into my mouth. His hands fell to my waist, playfully tugging on the hem of my shirt. His thumbs were rubbing back and forth on my skin.

Right as my leg was beginning to drape over his lap, a voice interrupted us.

"y/n! Louis! Role, let's go!" Mr. t/n said, waving for us to follow him.

We both laughed, cheeks tinted red, and followed our teacher back to the rest of the class, hand in hand.
