Lilly's POV:

Pressure on my arm made me jolt awake, squirming in my blankets and lurching back against my wall and kicking out weakly but blindly, my breath catching in my throat. I blinked quickly in the light of my room and waited for my eyes to get used to it while my ears rung and blocked out any noise in my room. Willow stood in front of me, hand still outstretched, and an alarmed look on her face.

"Are you ok?" She lowered her voice, making it as soft as she could. I rubbed my eyes quickly and watched as black dots danced in my vision for a few seconds before fading away. My throat burned from the weird movements I had made and my ribs throbbed dully with the beats of my heart. "I really didn't mean to scare you, I... really have to work on that." She muttered.

Her hair was finally starting to fade just the slightest, showing her original blonde roots just barely. She'd started dyeing it when she was young, mostly as an act of rebellion against her dad. I always thought it looked cute, it just felt right for her. My eyes wandered as I caught my breath, searching for... who knows what I was searching for. I purposefully stared at my carpet quickly when I realized Willow was only wearing a sports bra and shorts, she'd probably just gotten done with training.

"Lilly?" I glanced up at her face again and waved, smiling. She chuckled and I watched her eyes crinkle up and her nose scrunch as she did, making my smile wider and more genuine. Did anyone else see her like this? Was this what everyone saw, or was it a side effect of being soulmates? "I'm sorry for spooking you, I've been trying to find better ways to... not do that." She rubbed at the back of her neck and gave another smile. It reminded me of the grimace dogs make when they're uncomfortable or nervous.

I held my hand up in an 'ok' gesture and she sat down on the edge of my bed. "No talking day?" She questioned, her eyebrow raised. I shrugged and then tilted my hand side to side. "No problem. Hungry? I just got done eating lunch, it's around noon I think? Last time I checked anyway."

I scrunched my face up in disgust at the mention of the time but felt my stomach drop at the mention of Willows late lunch. She always ate early, she usually had to if she wanted to actually get to the good food before the others did. That only meant one thing; training day. I clenched my jaw as the ghost of Jason's hand brushed over my chin and I let out a sharp hiss of air through my teeth.

"Dad said you have training today." Her voice sounded sad, just slightly. I nodded, picking at imaginary dirt under my nails.

"I tried to tell him you shouldn't, especially because he... you know. He's rough." I snorted at her words and slid off of bed, stumbling slightly at the pins and needles feeling that scattered up my legs.

"Are you upset?" I shrugged and opened up drawers, grabbing one of the old shirts I used when I went through my painting phase.

"Lilly." I clenched my jaw again and felt my teeth squeak together from the pressure. I wasn't angry, I wasn't anything, I was just tired and unprepared to get hurt again. I dug through more clothes for one of my only pairs of shorts. "Lilly you can't ignore me." Technically I could. "I'm trying to help you! That's all I've been doing! The least you can do is acknowledge me!"

If I had a tail it'd be tucked between my legs. She hadn't raised her voice that much, but it was just enough for me to duck my head in shame. I felt like a little kid being scolded for not finishing her sandwich. Normally Alli would be dragging me through hell to apologize and genuinely listen to Willow, but Alli still refused to talk to me and I was too scared to do something wrong. I heard her get up and scoff lightly, making me feel even smaller.

"Listen, I'm sorry if I did something wrong. I don't even know what I did. I get that I'm not a great person but I'm trying, I really am. Just... training is like, now. You should get out there." I waited until she left, closing my door carefully. I bit down on my bottom lip and pinched my arm as hard as I could, feeling almost automatic relief as pain radiated from the area and turned into uncomfortable stinging.
