New beginnings (chapter 5)

Hey everybody! I know I haven't been on in... three years? Four? Around there. Anyway I'd just like to apologize. You all can call me Quinn if you'd like, and I had actually forgotten about this story. At the time when this was being written I was around 14 and struggling heavily with my mental health, eventually I did something very bad and ended up getting my phone taken away for a whole year. Within that year I unfortunately had basically forgotten about this story. I'm 18 now and I just downloaded wattpad again for fun and to check up on this little story and was shocked to see how much love this silly (and lowkey badly written) story had gotten. If little me could see this she would be so overjoyed she'd probably cry. I haven't written much lately so I'm sorry if this isn't perfect, and I've also forgotten a lot of where I wanted this story to go. But the good news here is I am going to continue to write it! It'll probably be a bit shaky at first and the first four chapters will remain unedited simply because it's nice to have a reminder of my younger self. A few disclaimers: as im older now I feel a lot better having these characters be a tad bit older, so willow and Lilly are now 18, and when they find their mates the age will be 18! I doubt there will be full smut scenes but there will probably be kissing and other things! I don't know how in depth and detailed it'll be but it will come into light that Lilly actively self harms and has eating issues, if this is a bother to you please proceed with caution and let me know if you guys would like me to tell y'all when it specifically shows up. This new chapter was written quickly as a way to show you guys that I am coming back and that while it may be shaky at first as I'm figuring out where this story will go, I do really love it! Now, for those of you reading this now thank you for sticking with me for so long and I hope you enjoy this new chapter after a very long wait :)

Lilly's POV:
After waking up from the nightmare Alli was whining loudly which spiked my anxiety just as high as her voice was going. "What if she's not on patrol? What if she's just pretending to like you so that alpha can hurt you! You're in her room, you have to go because alpha will hurt you and you'll deserve it!"

The last sentence she spoke was shrill at the end and ended in a quiet whine high in her throat. I wanted to tell her that she was wrong and that we were fine, that we were mates and that bond doesn't break, at least not easily. Normally Alli helped calm me down and keep me rational, but I could tell not being able to shift was just as painful for her as it is for me. When we shift our wolves front for the most part, we're still ourselves but they come out to play and get to move and stretch. Alli would obviously want to see her mate, Willows wolf, and she couldn't, she was stuck.

"Hey, you know it's ok, you know that we're mates, you know that bond doesn't break." I thought, trying desperately to soothe her before she tossed me into a full panic attack. I'd had them before and they were pretty common for me now but once again, Alli was the rational one, not me!

"Ok listen, let's focus on getting downstairs to our own room, we have to leave Willows room before someone finds us. You know how badly Jason would lose his temper on us if he found us, we gotta calm down and get down to the room ok?" I hoped that would stop the panicked whining that was close to bubbling out of my throat and I thanked whatever god may be out there that it was dark now and most of the pack were sleeping.

Alli was still panicky and flighty but thankfully was thinking a bit more rationally, she decided not to talk to me but I could feel her calming down which in turn helped me take a shaky breath and start the climb downstairs to my room, trying to be as quiet as possible.

Willow's POV:
After just a few minutes of running Kita had decided she forgave me for being a complete bitch to the person we loved. I couldn't really blame her, I was a bitch. It also didn't help that we were doing border patrol and Kita REALLY loved border patrol. After a minute of her trying to gain the most control to really have fun I laughed and gave up, letting her do what she wanted.

I couldn't really help but be worried about Lilly, I felt horrible having to leave her with just a note, but I didn't want to wake her up. I don't think she slept often or enough, and if I could give her something today it would be for her to just enjoy sleeping. I was worried about dad coming home, I didn't hate my father but... he wasn't a good man. His father was harsh on him and in turn he grew up to think anger and punishment was the best motivator for pack members. Sometimes it was, but usually it wasn't.

In Lilly's case punishment did nothing for her. She was the lowest on the food chain and often willingly took the punishments my father gave her. Sometimes it was simple like washing the dishes or cleaning rooms but other times it was worse, and usually physical. That made Kita so angry I could feel a growl building in our chest and I gently soothed her, if we could we'd make sure Lilly was never touched again.

My thoughts were interrupted by Alex bolting straight into my shoulder, knocking me totally off course and making me skid nose first into the dirt. I huffed the grass out of my nostrils and wiped at my muzzle with my paw. It hadn't hurt, but it had for sure surprised me.

"What the hell!" Kita and I huffed at the same time, our voices mixing in my head in an almost nauseating way, Kita's ears pinned in a nonaggressive but pouting way as I looked at her. Alex stood tall and wagged her tail excitedly. Without even realizing it we had completed the border check and I thanked Alli silently for making us seem like a coherent thing and checking the borders well.

"It's time to play! We did the whole border and you were silent the whole way besides quick snippets from Kita, so we have to play as payment for being rude!"

I couldn't help but laugh at Alex's wolf. Her name was nia and she was pretty playful when she wanted to be but also incredibly scary when needed. I could feel Kita step up and shake her coat off, getting into play position. "Oh you know it's on Nia, get ready for a beating!"

After what seemed like forever of wrestling and tripping and everything else we both laid on the ground panting. It was starting to get dark so I assumed it had to be around 8 pm or so. "Hey, you ready to go?"

Alex's ears perked up and she gave a loud yawn, showing her teeth. "Well you admitted defeat so I guess we can head home you loser." I was so tired all I could do was give a quiet noise in the back of my throat that I hoped sounded at least slightly like a laugh.

"Yeah yeah let's go, supper is probably over but I'm sure there's left overs on the table still and god knows I'm starving."

With that last statement we took off, paws thudding on the soft earth as we did and the wind ruffling our fur.
