Chapter 17- I Never Would Have Thought

Harry, Draco, and their friends were all getting ready to go to their new jobs since it was nearing the end of summer. Harry was so excited that he would be getting to work with all of his friends, he hoped kids would like having survivors of the war as their teachers. Harry was packing all of his things up. Madame Pomfrey agreed to take care of the baby while his dads were at work. He heard a small tap at the window, he looked and saw a small barn owl with a letter tied to it's foot. Harry let the owl in and gave it a treat. He grabbed the letter and began reading.

Harry,

I never thought I would be writing to you.

I doubt you will even answer but I got a letter

Yesterday that shocked me.

Last year I adopted a young daughter, she turned 11 years old on July 28th.

She got a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

She was accepted I thought that maybe since you went there you could help.

I don't know where to buy her supplies and all of that. 

If you can help me I live back on Privet drive. Number 22.

Harry smiled at the letter, just from these words he could tell what a wonderful man Dudley had become. Of course he was going to help his little niece. He had lots of Galleons to help buy her supplies. He still had another week until he had to go to Hogwarts because he was there to help students with getting onto the train. He pocketed the letter and apperated to #22 Privet Drive. He knocked on the door and waited.

“Hello sir.” A little girl he assumed was Dudley's daughter said opening the door.

“Is Dudley here honey?” Harry asked the young girl

“Yes he is. Daddy, a man is at the door for you.” The little girl yelled.

“Harry!” Dudley said, pulling his cousin into a hug. 

“Long time no see Big D.” Harry said, stepping into the house.

“Definitely.” Dudley responded smiling.

“How are Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon?” Harry asked.

“Oh we don't talk anymore, they acted incredibly biased when I told them they should give you a chance so I just stopped talking to them, I don't know how they would have reacted when they found out that little Hariet here got into Hogwarts.” Dudley said, hugging his daughter.

“Hariet, that's such a pretty name.” Harry said obliviously.

“Thank you, Well are we ready to go shopping?” Hariet said, smiling.

“Of course!” Harry said, taking the two others to The Leaky Cauldron. He took them to the back and opened the brick wall to reveal Diagon Alley. They were shocked at what had happened. But Hariet looked so excited to be a witch. He first took them to Gringotts to get some money. He let Hariet take all of the Galleons she needed. He first took them too Madame Malkins. When Hariet was getting fitted for her robes he told Dudley that this was where he met his boyfriend. Dudley was so supportive and said that he would love to meet him. Since Draco was off work today Harry sent a patronus to him asking to meet in Diagon Alley. After Hariet got her robes she bought all of her books and everything else on her list. She only had one thing left when Draco arrived with Scorpius. Hariet automatically loved the little boy. I took her to get her wand while Draco and Dudley chatted. Her wand was a 17 inch, Elm wand with a unicorn hair core. She loved it so much, the little girl went to show her father. Harry found Draco and the four of them spent the entire rest of the day together in Diagon Alley. Harriet was so excited that uncle Harry was going to be teaching her. Harry promised Dudley that he would keep him up to date on what the little girl was up to. They left to go home and Harry and Draco got a good night's sleep. 

They had 2 days until they left for Hogwarts. Harry and Draco along with their friends helped pack everything they would need up. Draco was so excited to be teaching his all time favorite subject. They all took turns flooing to McGonagall’s office so they could set up their offices and classrooms. Draco got their first and went right to his office. He set it up so he had a big potion making station in the center with a solid gold cauldron. He has his desk in the corner of the room along with a magical chalk board. Lining the walls he has thousands of small potion bottles filled with many different concoctions. In his personal supply closet you there was every single potion ingredient you could ever need. Harry's office had a huge deathly hallows symbol in the door. His desk had carvings of many animals, vines swirling around. He had a large bookshelf filled with many books on lots of obscure hexes and jinxes. He had a large glass case on the wall filled with every wand he had ever won. Hermione had bookshelves lining the walls in her office filled with books. She has a large desk in the center with quills, books and parchment neatly organized. In a large cabinet she has many different spare wands that she got from Olivanders abandoned wand shop. Luna set up so that one wall in her office had healing oils and herbs. She had a beautiful tea table in the corner with a very expensive tea set. The opposite will is covered in colored crystal balls, some with prophecies some without. Her desk was a dark purple color, with neatly stacked books on it. Nevilles office has a large window taking up almost an entire wall. He had plants and flowers galore sitting by the window. Oh his dark green desk there were more plants and many herbology books. On a different wall of his office he has a huge fish tank with an undetectable extension charm. Inside the tank were two Mermaids and a grindylow. He could talk to the creatures who agreed to live in his office but they could also go back to the black lake if needed. Pansys office had any different cages (with undetectable extension charms) hanging from the ceiling and scattered around the room that had rodents and birds inside for the student to practice on. She has a large bookshelf on the wall opposite to the door with many different books (thanks to Hermione). She also has a cabinet of reversal potions for her students. Ginny had a large pet dog and a sphinx cat that followed her pretty much everywhere. The cat loves to spend time with students and teachers alike (especially Minnie). Her desk is worn and stacked with books. She put a huge painting of the dark forest above her desk and a glass case with many different animal specimens. She had a unicorn horn, mermaid scales, centaur hooves, hippogriff feathers and much more. Once everyone had set up their offices they all met up in the great hall with the other teachers. That year the Hogwarts staff consisted of Hagrid, McGonagall, Hermione, Harry, Draco, Pansy, Neville, Luna, Ginny, Flitwick, and more. When the school year started 1 week later the students were so happy to have some young people teaching them. Harry loved his students and he always helped them with anything they needed. Draco was strict but non-bias like some younger Slytherins thought he would be. Luna was very sweet and patient with her student since divination was a complex subject. Pansy was a bit biased but surprisingly toward everyone but Slytherins because they thought they were better than everyone else. Neville loved to explain all of the plants in his classroom to curious students. Ginny was so kind and helped all of her students with their monster book of monsters because they were pretty difficult.

“I bet professor Malfoy won’t take away points even though we are late” One young Slytherin boy spoke as he was on his way to potions. 

“Yeah, he was the biggest bully of Slytherin when he was here” Another said just as they were walking into the classroom.

“Boys, you are five minutes late” Draco said sternly.

“Yeah, so you are a Slytherin, you won't take points away” One of the boys responded.

“20 points from Slytherin,” Draco said, smirking.

“What? But you are a Slytherin!” Another girl shrieked.

“I can make it 40,” Draco said, all of the Slytherins in the room shook their heads and sat down quietly. The former Hogwarts students loved their new jobs and everything they entailed. The year was going great so far and everyone was so happy, but that was nothing compared to what was coming.
