Now seems like a good idea on explaining how.But first, I'm going to have to teach you some university-level biology dumbed down to the high school level.
(A/N If you want to go straight to the fight, then you should look for the other author's note marker)
The parts of the auric system in one's body are the aura, aura channels, aurigo, and your staurung.
Aura is the fuel for abilities. It is unique for every human being, like DNA. It's composed extremely complex and is like a thick, smart gas that infuses into stuff really easily. It flows through the aura channels and sometimes exits out of the pores on one's skin for abilities that require it.
The reason I called it a smart gas is due to the fact that it listens to commands. To perform an ability, it first goes to a targeted location and roughly surrounds it. Once it surrounds the target, it reacts. Due to this reaction causing aura to rapidly evaporate into carbon dioxide and other products, there's usually a continuous trail to a target to keep an ability's effect active.
It will cause a chain reaction to either condense or seep into something that can be controlled as if that thing is a string doll. By pulling on certain strings, you can do certain things. Do this in the right way, and you can make certain motions. Oftentimes, one cannot control what actions one's aura does. It's why Undying heals me on a cellular level, I don't know what to do, but my aura does.
If the aura condenses, it rearranges its molecular structure to fit its programmed task, such as strengthening to make batons or chains. That would be what Arlo's barrier does, it surrounds its target first, then condenses and rearranges itself to strengthen, curve, and change its size.
Aura channels are very similar to blood vessels in the circulatory system. It pumps aura to the place it needs to go in the exact same way blood vessels do. It's basically a small, rubbery tube. Aura travels from the aurigo to the staurung, to its target destination.
Aurigo is what makes one's aura. It's the source, the generator. The cell walls of the aurigo continuously make the gaseous substance on a cellular level and release it into the aurigal cavity, the empty space, in the centre of that ball. Detecting it's filled, it pumps it out to the aurigo sphinx at the top of it. From there it goes to the staurung.
Staurung's are the brains of the aural system. Once aura enters it and willed, Staurung's rearranges it molecularly to direct it to a target location. Once the aura is given its command, it's sent out back into aural channels then to one's pores. If unwilled, it will simply flow through aura channels remnant. If one's aura is strong enough, it slowly starts affecting one's body naturally, resulting in passives. The aura that went through the staurung is called "processed aura". The aura that isn't, is called "unprocessed aura".
Due to the staurung being located near one's eyes, when someone activates their ability, their eyes glow as well. Evolutionarily, this was an advantage to tell predators and people to screw off by scaring them.
For example, Undying makes aura in the aurigo, then sends it to the staurung to give it a targeted location, such as my broken spine, then once at the area it reacts and heals all damage by converting my aura into materials needed for repair and regrowth. When not active, it flows through my aura channels and affects my neck and head, giving me a near-impenetrable head.
That, uh, may specifically be due to my body adapting to Keon's uh, lessons.
Now that this lesson is done, let's have a test!
If you don't get perfect besides the fact that you can read your notes during this test, just drop and give me 20 push-ups.
Let's keep you healthy, oh and uh, don't look at the lesson above here! Cheating is prohibited!
