It was the moment Izumi opened her eyes that she jumped, there were four men keeping their eyes on her. "Morning, Izumi," she heard Felix say from beside her, "don't mind them, they're just making sure nothing bad happens." If she sat up, then she'd see the daggers he was glaring, though they disappeared when she did. "Hey guys, can we wait on uncuffing her?" He asked, her betterment clearly on his head; he received a stern head-shake from the one Izumi knew. Detective Naomasa.
"It'd be better if she were tired, mainly because she wouldn't be able fight back that well when we do." He explained, clearly keeping the needs of the few out of his mind. "Now would you please," he tossed something through the bars at Felix, "unlock her cuffs only. We can do yours after we see if she's fine," it was like a spark in her thoughts. Just like the spark that began her disease fueled transformation.
Felix sighed beside his daughter, "fine..." he turned toward her and grabbed her cuff with his hand, "are you ready Izumi?" It was now or never, so she nodded, "alright, ready your firearms guys." He gulped before sticking the key into the slot on the metal device, with a twist it fell off. Just like the previous attempt, she waited, specifically for that pain in her chest. But it didn't appear even after ten seconds. "Do you," Felix began a triumphant smile appearing on his face, "feel fine?"
"Yeah," Izumi wouldn't have hidden any symptoms, "I feel perfect, dad." Felix looked as if he were about to stand up and hug her, but he was interrupted by Naomasa's order.
"Midoriya, Izumi, back away from Felix," dread overcame her as he uttered his next words, "there is a possibility that he may be infected!" Izumi looked into his eyes as if searching for any form of doubt, but they only pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.
"Yeah...but hey," he tried to raise her hopes up, "if you could overcome it, then I know that I could too! So
try not to think the worst will happen, Izumi," he smiled, "I trust in your abilities one hundred percent. Do me proud," he smiled, "now go to Naomasa, he needs you right now."Izumi did as she was told and went up to the bars, "I can't believe that you beat back the 'virus,' Midoriya." She knew why he used air quotations when he said virus, "as you surely know, this isn't a virus. It's a quirk that's doing this," Naomasa explained, "I've been investigating these occurrences for the past half year. So far I've only figured out who patient zero was, and how the quirk can be stopped. But, with today, I've figured out that you," he pointed to her, "can completely override its effects...at least on yourself. If you're father is infected, then he'd be the perfect candidate for you to test if you can rid his body of it. I believe in you because you have the blood of the Wood's in you, just like my wife and your father."
She didn't know that he was her uncle, but it was still a decent bit of information. "Anyway, Felix," Naomasa called out to his brother in law, "whenever Izumi is ready you're going to undo your lock." He redirected his attention at her, "you better be ready when he does, otherwise we might not get another chance to heal him."
"Wait..." Izumi could feel her beat skip, "only one shot? Whenever I'm ready?" Naomasa nodded causing her hands to clam up, she turned to face her dad who still had his bright smile on. Slowly, she walked over to him, knowing that the weight of his life rested on her shoulders. "Can I have the key?" She set her hand out and received the small metal piece. "Thank you," Izumi readied the key and stuck it in the lock, but something yelled at her. Something that told her not to turn the key, "wait," she turned around and faced the bars, "Naomasa-San, didn't you tell me that the cannibalistic man died? I know he reverted back to his normal self when I set the binds on him, but other than that I didn't do anything to kill him. So..."
"So you shouldn't release him from his shackle? Is that the point you're getting at?" Izumi nodded, "alright, if you think you can do it then do it with the cuff still on. If not," he made a little snipping motion with his fingers, "then it'll have to come off. When that happens, I can only hope that you can save him, otherwise we'll both be sad. I believe in you, and Felix without a doubt does too, so get to healing him, kiddo." He pulled a cigarette from his breast pocket and lit it with his lighter, "well? You're father won't wait around all day, will he?" With that final bit of encouragement, Izumi faced her father once again.
